Oliver Postgate – A Life in Small Films
The woodwind strains of the intro waft you instantly back to childhood, in this delicious tribute to the late creator of The Clangers, Noggin the Nog, and Bagpuss. Teletubbies creator Andrew Davenport and Charlie and Lola writer Lauren Child are among those paying homage to the man whose engagingly shambling "Smallfilms", steeped in the past, have themselves become the stuff of nostalgia. However, this film also shows how the politics of the leftwing, pacifist, proto-ecologist Postgate fed into the underlying melancholy and horror of modernity you'll find lurking in his world of knitted puppets and recycled knick-knacks.

Endemol has acquired British production companies Tiger Aspect, Darlow Smithson and Darlow Smithson's Tigress from Img.
The pact, said to be in the neighborhood of $50 million, comes a month after global sports and modeling agency/entertainment company Img Worldwide announced that it was looking at potentially offloading Tiger Aspect and Darlow Smithson.
The move is part of Endemol's aggressive acquisition strategy of the past couple of years that has expanded the company's entertainment portfolio.
Tiger Aspect was arguably the top entertainment property under Igm's umbrella. The company, one of the U.K.'s best-known producers, is behind such hits as "Billy Elliot" and kids animation "Charlie and Lola," as well as comedy "Diary of a Call Girl," which ran on Showtime, dramas "Robin Hood" and "Vicar of Dibley" and reality series "Make Me a Supermodel" for Bravo and "Cook Yourself Thin" for Lifetime.

London -- Global sports, entertainment and modeling group Img Worldwide said Tuesday that it was looking at potentially offloading U.K.-based production entities Tiger Aspect and Darlow Smithson.
In a brief statement, IMG said it had hired New York-based boutique investment advisory and banking firm the Raine Group to explore strategic alternatives for the two companies.
Tiger Aspect -- whose hits include "Billy Elliot" and kids animation "Charlie and Lola" is one of the U.K.'s best-known producers, while specialist factual features producer Darlow Smithson, is known for such theatrical movies as "Touching the Void."
