I've long held to the theory of comedy that says there's nothing funnier than a guy being a jerk for no apparent reason. This short is a perfect illustration. Robin is trying to have a quiet date when Bat-Man shows up uninvited, appoints himself wingman and proceeds to make an ass of himself. Justin Long does a good job playing the exasperated straight man as Sam Rockwell's Bat-Man becomes increasingly more bizarre and obnoxious. Meanwhile, his prospective date gets sick of both of them. The low-quality costumes and Bat-Man's beard just make it funnier. This is the best fan-made Batman parody I've seen. It's easy to find on the net. I recommend you do so.

When I read the cast I did a double take. But nope, that's the two guys
who were in Galaxy Quest with minor, yet important roles, in this
quirky fan film about the Dark Knight who unwittingly discourages the
Boy Wonder from getting' some.
Sam Rockwell (Galaxy Quest, The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy) is
The Bat-man who seems more of a party guy and ladies man than the Dark
Knight and almost steals the show right out from under the rest of the
terrific cast.
My only complaint is that the film was shot on low quality videotape
and it shows badly -- especially considering the final showing of the
film would be via the internet. But it gives the production a cheaper
than dirt quality which is just fine considering it probably was just
exactly that.
I wish big expensive movies were this much fun in this short a time.

If you are looking for a movie quality Batman parody, this is not it. Instead, in some cheesy costumes reminiscent of the 1960s TV Batman show, this short finds Robin out with a lady and he's deathly afraid that Batman will show up and ruin everything. Well, surprise, surprise, that's EXACTLY what happens, as Batman is an obnoxious jerk who seems to delight in ruining the Boy Wonder's chances of ever scoring! The film, though cheesy, is well written and funny. Plus, its cheesiness is actually an asset--making the whole film funny and a bit sad. Poor Robin--his mentor is an idiot! The only reservation I have about this cute film is that occasionally the subject matter is pretty adult. You'd NEVER want your 8 year-old watching this film! Still, for adults, it's funny and likable.
This was a GREAT movie! Unfortunately, like most greats, it probably won't get properly recognized during it's time. Justin Long is extremely talented - he was also most recently in the movie 'Domino' - I hope that Hollywood is paying attention! This movie shows his range, and even though he is the main character, the movie does not totally depend on him. The other characters are great, too! This movie is for ANYONE who has ever been bullied, or left out or told 'NO'. EVERYONE can relate to the ridiculous ideals of human perfection that are perpetuated in American society. Men, Women, Fat, Thin, Nerd, Jock - this movie has something for everybody. The movie is funny and classy. And, he doesn't make "fat" look pitiful or shameful in any way. GREAT JOB,Justin Long!
