Should robots be built? Should they be or are they our superiors, equals, or slaves? Brobot examines this idea with humor and pathos. I enjoyed the look and sound of the robot. He had the old-fashioned familiar quality of the classic robot movies of the 50s and early 60s. Recently the movies are using the human-looking robots, but I prefer the "Robbie the Robot" - can't mistake it's a machine - robot. The plot develops with the robot interacting in everyday situations. I particularly liked the tribute to Karloff's monster - watch for it. The casting was obviously done with care. The "nutty" old professor and the angry teenage daughter were perfect. I thought the scenes with the neighbors sitting on the couch were hysterical. The camera shots were very professional and the comic timing of the FBI agents was dead on. All in all, I really enjoyed this movie. Not only does Brobot make you laugh, it visits the coming of age theme from a new perspective.
