Stem cells, gene therapy, transplants, and cloning have changed the definition of "humanity" in the modern world, but the darker side contains monsters that only few are brave enough to face, because the future lies in their hands.

I've been a huge fan of the books for awhile now, and I really, really wanted to like the SciFi series. I watched the pilot, and I've watched several episodes after...to great disappointment. I understand that books often have to be changed in certain ways to suit the medium, television or film, but The Dresden Files has been changed so much, they might as well have named it something completely different and called it a SciFi original. Not a single character remains unscathed, and most have been drastically changed. The magic has changed, the world has changed...and not in a good way. The story is weaker, the characters are clichéd, the writing is mediocre to poor...there's just nothing to get excited about. I wouldn't have given the show even a third viewing if I hadn't been so invested in wanting to see the books come to life. Sadly, any resemblance this show bears the books is completely coincidence.
