After on-set photos exposing a first look into Big Daddy, Nicolas Cage's character, have been leaked earlier, a series of on-the-set videos from "Kick-Ass" has also come out. The first four of the videos present a brief look into the night filming where character Dave Lizewski and The Red Mist ride what seems to be Mist's custom red sports car.
The night footages were said to be taken through Downtown Toronto near the Toronto Eaton Centre. The first video posted below reveal actors, Aaron Johnson and Christopher Mintz-Plasse, dressed in their characters' costume while driving the red car. The last video display a helicopter with a camera taking shots for the live-action adaptation film.
Directed by "Stardust" helmer Matthew Vaughn, "Kick-Ass" is adapted from a comic book series by Mark Millar and John Romita, Jr. It follows the story of Lizewski, an ordinary teenage boy who decides to be

With several names coming out attached as the helmer of "Thor", Kenneth Branagh becomes the last one mentioned. The Northern Irish director and actor who was catapulted to success through the 1989 "Henry V", is said to be in talks to helm the Marvel Comics adaptation of "Thor".
The news comes from Variety that reported Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige picks Branagh as the director. This has been considered as an odd choice for Branagh has not helmed any action movie in more than a decade although he did earn two Oscar nominations for "Henry V". No other details have been shared except that the movie is aimed to be released on June 4, 2010.
Previously a couple of names have been lined-up to be in the director's seat. Matthew Vaughn who directed "Stardust" was the first to be outed last year, and D.J. Caruso ("Disturbia") followed the next year, but Branagh is

If you hadn't heard yet Matthew Vaughn is not directing Marvel's Thor, it is the second time he has been attached to a superhero flick and ultimately ended up not helming the feature. X3 was the first one and he went on to direct Stardust instead. However, that isn't stopping Marvel from persuing the project and we now learn Kenneth Branagh of all people may be the man to take up the reins. Branagh is negotiating to direct the flick, which is already expected to hit theaters on June 4, 2010 with a distributor to be set shortly. Branagh isn't a surprising choice because he can't direct, he's a surprising choice because he isn't known for directing action. As Variety points out the last time he directed an action flick was actually his directorial debut in 1989 with Henry V a film that earned Branagh an Oscar nomination for acting and directing and

"Kick-Ass" has kicked off its filming in London on Saturday, September 6, and its comic book writer Mark Millar gave out his report on the first two days of shooting. Writing a message on his official site, MillarWorld.tv, he revealed that the first scene shot was the scene where Hit-Girl's dad, Big Daddy, trains her to become a crime fighter.
Explaining in details of the shot, the 38-year-old graphic novelist wrote, "Coincidentally, the first scene shot on the movie was the first scene I wrote on the comic (now the opening to issue six) and it's Hit-Girl in her secret identity, wearing a Hello Kitty T-shirt and a kevlar vest as her Dad pumps round after round into her chest so she knows how a bullet feels."
"I loved the scene in the comic, I loved the scene in the screenplay, but Nic just took it to a whole new level with his delivery,

Director D.J. Caruso, while out promoting his forthcoming Eagle Eye, has expressed interest in heading to Asgard for his next project.
While talking with IESB, he said, “You know...I would definitely tackle [Thor] and I sort of wrestled with it before and I was always a fan of Thor growing up as a kid. I know that they [Marvel] have a script, but there's something, there's a fear I have about Thor and depending on what Thor story you want to tell, whether you want to bring Thor into the modern world or if you want to go back to Asgard and get the history of what's happening between him and his brother and dad. That's one I've always been interested in and it also would be, it would be a monumental task so, I could definitely see myself getting myself into that.

Brit comic Ricky Gervais hasn't really completely broken through in the Us, but if you've seen his wry, squirm-inducing style on the UK "The Office" or "Extras" (or the scenes he stole in movies like Stardust and A Night At The Museum) then you know he's due. One of the surprise hits for Marvel this year was Kick-Ass, the series from Mark Millar and John Romita, Jr. In addition to sell outs and multiple printings, it was optioned for a film prior to the first issue hitting the stands this past winter.
The movie, to be directed by Stardust’s Matthew Vaughn, stars Nicholas Cage and as the would-be hero, 18-year-old Aaron Johnson (Angus, Thongs & Snogging). While in Australia promoting Angus, he told Moviehole he goes from Down Under to Canada to begin shooting in a few weeks.
"Next week I'll be in Toronto. I'm still trying to get my head around it. I just came back from New York actually where I was doing an independent film. I've gone from one side of the world to the other. My head is going crazy. I woke up this morning and said ‘Where am I?' I looked

Nicholas Cage is the latest to join the cast of “Kick-Ass,” Matthew Vaughn’s upcoming adaptation of Mark Millar’s violent comic book, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Aaron Johnson and Lyndsy Fonseca also boarded the project.
The story centers on a boring high school student (Johnson) who attempts to become a real-life superhero named Kick-Ass but runs into several troubles because of his poor physique. Cage stars as an ex-cop who struggles to bring down a local druglord.
Also on board is “Superbad” star Christopher Mintz-Plasse, who plays the aggressive son of a mobster who tries to uncover Kick-Ass’ identity.
Most of the major studios refused to develop the project because of the comic’s excessive violence, which is why Vaughn raised the budget for the flick himself.
Vaughn previously directed “Layer Cake” and “Stardust.” Cage most recently starred in “National Treasure: Book of Secrets.” He will next be

One of the more interesting comic book projects in the pipeline is an adaptation of Mark Millar's Kick-Ass (title likely to be changed?), directed by Matthew Vaughn. We previously covered the action comedy -- about a high school dork who decides to become a superhero despite not possessing any of the gifts normally associated with superherodom -- here and here.
Perhaps hinting at the tone of the eventual film, the first bit of casting was Superbad's Christopher Mintz-Plasse. Though he may seem like the perfect choice to play a dweeb with delusions of grandeur, Mintz-Plasse was cast in a supporting role. A week later, they've cast the lead: it'll be 18 year-old Aaron Johnson, whom you may remember as little Ed Norton in The Illusionist. Joining him will be Nicolas Cage and TV vet Lyndsy Fonseca. Fonseca will play the love interest,

Say what you want about Nic Cage, the guy still gets some pretty high-profile gigs. Even after Wicker Man.
Case in point: The Hollywood Reporter says that Cage has joined the cast of director Matthew Vaughn's adaptation of Kick-Ass, the uber-violent Mark Millar comic.
Earlier in the week, it was revealed that McLovin would also be in the cast. Today, we're also learning that British kid actor Aaron Johnson will play the lead role in Kick-Ass, a high school nerd named Dave who wants to become a superhero despite his obvious lack of the requisite abilities and powers. Lyndsy Fonseca, who you may know as the daughter from How I Met Your Mother, will play Dave's love interest.
As for Cage, he'll play "a former cop who wants to bring down a druglord and has trained his daughter (11-year-old Chloe Moretz) to be a lethal weapon."

For a month or so now all the fanboy blogs have been ranting and raving about something called Kick-Ass, a film based on a comic by Mark Millar, and I had no idea what it was since I don't read comics, but now that I have learned a few of the particulars it sounds relatively interesting. The comic is described as an ultraviolent story following Dave Lizewski, a high school dweeb who attempts to reinvent himself as a real-world costumed superhero named Kick-Ass who seems doomed to failure because he's not athletic or coordinated until he runs into real bad guys with real weapons. Apparently the damn thing is so violent no studio will touch it, but that isn't stopping Matthew Vaughn (Layer Cake and Stardust) from finding his own source of money and getting it made. The first casting has just been announced and Christopher Mintz-Plasse (McLovin' from Superbad) and Chloe Moretz,

Christopher Mintz-Plasse, who will forever be known as McLovin from Superbad, is in negotiations to join Matthew Vaughn's Kick-Ass, an adaptation of the comic by Mark Millar. The film's violent nature has caused movie studios to steer away from making it, so Stardust director Matthew Vaughn has had to raise the $30 million for the indie project himself. Kick-Ass, written by Millar and drawn by John Romita Jr., follows a high school dweeb who attempts to reinvent himself as a real-world costumed superhero named Kick-Ass who seems doomed…
