When taking a bath in the inn, Primus talk about his father, the king (interpreted by Peter O'Toole), riding a camel in his youth, this is a reference to Lawrence of Arabia

A woman claiming to be called Bernard is a reference to the Blackadder episode "Bells", in which queen Elizabeth I asks Nursie what her real name is, to which she also replies Bernard.
