With the fairly surprising box office bonanza that was Four Christmases, producers rushed into action to recapture that ol' Vince Vaughn comedy magic. For a while, Vaughn's stuff has been pretty sub-par, but the hope is if you surround him with a lot of talent maybe the old Vince - the Wedding Crashers and not Fred Claus Vince - would come back to us.
Couples Retreat certainly should give Vaughn fans hope. In addition to reuniting with Jon Favreau, the new comedy co-stars Jason Bateman, Kristin Davis, Kristen Bell, Malin Akerman, and Faizon Love. The story has promise, too, and even if it doesn't sound like much, remember the basic premise to The Hangover doesn't exactly leap off the page.
In the film, four couples head to the islands for a big vacation, but one of the four tandems is there to work on their relationship, and what the other

According to Variety, Will Ferrell is currently in talks to take the lead in a new David Dobkin directed comedy called Neighborhood Watch, which sounds a lot like a remake of the great Tom Hanks comedy The 'burbs if you ask me. The story will follow and urbanite (Ferrell) as he journeys to the suburbs, joins the neighborhood watch and uncovers a large conspiracy. Now if this "conspiracy" turns out to be something to do with a cannibalistic cult, I'm calling bullshit. Beyond that, I see no reason why this concept wouldn't work. David Dobkin is a solid director, having put both Fred Claus and Wedding Crashers under his belt in recent years. Ferrell, as you know, is funny. The screenplay, which is generally the x-factor in these types of comedies, comes from newcomer Jared Stern. So we'll see. What do you think of Will Ferrell taking a trip to the 'burbs?

The next comedy classic? Will Ferrell is set to star in Fox's Neighborhood Watch. The comedy project in development at the studio chronicles an "urbanite's journey" as he moves to a suburban community, joins the neighborhood watch and uncovers a large conspiracy. David Dobkin, who directed Wedding Crashers and Fred Claus previously, will be directing this from a screenplay written by newcomer Jared Stern. Night at the Museum director Shawn Levy had been eying the project as well, but will now only produce with his production partner Tom McNulty via their company 21 Laps. Can't wait to see who else they cast in this. High concept comedies like this are perfect for Will Ferrel. No need for an elaborate story or anything too "smart," because all Ferrell needs is a well-written character like this to embody, and he can just let it go crazy from there. I'm already thinking of Anchorman

I am really hoping this summer's Land of the Lost is good as I would like to enjoy a Will Ferrell film again. Strangely enough my favorite Ferrell film from the past five years is one most people don't like at all, last year's Semi-Pro, but considering I haven't seen it since I will have to say Night at the Roxbury remains my favorite film in which Ferrell has toplined. I enjoyed him in Zoolander, he had his moments in Old School, I thought he was the worst part of Wedding Crashers and yet the best thing about the 2005 snoozer The Producers. Unfortunately, a re-team with Wedding Crashers helmer David Dobkin doesn't exactly inspire confidence considering Dobkin's latest effort Fred Claus. The news comes from Variety, reporting Ferrell and Dobkin are both in negotiations for the 20th Century Fox comedy Neighborhood Watch penned by Jared Stern (Bolt). The film chronicles

Will Ferrell and director David Dobkin are in talks to make Neighborhood Watch (or Neighbourhood in this country, we hope), a new comedy that will see them teamed up for the first time since Ferrell took a small cameo role in Dobkin's Wedding Crashers. The story follows a big city guy (Ferrell, we're saying) who moves to the suburbs and joins the Neighborhood Watch. There, he uncovers a conspiracy.Jared Stern wrote the screenplay, which Shawn Levy was set to direct before deciding to back out in favour of Dobkin, who last directed Fred Claus. Let's hope this turns out more The 'Burbs and less Bewitched on the suburban comedy scale.

David Dobkin, whose credits include Shanghai Knights, Wedding Crashers and Fred Claus, is attached to direct the comedy Neighborhood Watch, taking over for Shawn Levy (Night at the Museum). Watch centers on an urbanite who gets more than he bargained for when he moves to the suburbs and joins the neighborhood watch, with a sci-fi element included via a plot line about aliens. Jared Stern wrote the script Levy is still producing "Neighborhood Watch" with 21 Laps’ Tom McNulty. The shingle's Billy Rosenberg, who is shepherding the project, will also serve in some producing capacity. Producers are currently out to cast, with conversations under way with Will Ferrell to play the lead, though insiders said those conversations were still in the early stages. Ferrell had a cameo role in Dobkin’s Crashers. Dobkin is also attached to direct an update of superhero tale The Flash, the whimsical romantic comedy Helium and

Editors Note: Nick Allen interviewed Rachel Weisz back in November 2008, because The Brother’s Bloom was originally set to release in December 2008.
Rachel Weisz is not a weird person. In the flesh, sitting only a high-five away from me in a room at Chicago’s James Hotel, undeniable beauty seems to be the only eccentricity she shares with Penelope, her character in the new film The Brothers Bloom. She doesn’t seem to exemplify the defining quirky characteristics of her shut-in, socially awkward character from the film, written and directed by Rian Johnson. If anything, sitting down with two other writers and the Oscar-winning actress, it was difficult for me not to embody Penelope-like awkwardness myself.
Regardless, the actress from the first two Mummy movies and husband Darren Aronofsky’s The Fountain was happy to discuss her new wacky character, the on-screen chemistry she has with Adrien Brody, and

Earlier this month, Dan Aykroyd confirmed the news that every '80s kid has been waiting to hear for 20 years - there's going to be a third Ghostbusters! After years of rumours that Aykroyd was sitting on a script, he's revealed that the sequel will focus on a "new generation" of 'Busters. So who can possibly fill those hefty boots of Venkman, Stantz, Zeddemore and Spengler? Digital Spy has picked out the stars we'd like to see "cross the streams" in the third movie. Vince Vaughn
Vaughn's recent turns in tacky festive frolics Four Christmases and Fred Claus may prompt many to sneer at the suggestion he deserves a crack at the legendary comedy franchise. However, we reckon Vaughn's lackadaisical approach to life would make him the perfect man to take over the baton from Dr Venkman. The 6ft5 comic's (more)

While dark and gloomy flicks are nothing new, ever since The Dark Knight destroyed box-office records, Studios have been prepping a lot more “darker” themed projects. The latest, Jack the Giant Killer, comes from New Line and will be directed by D.J. Caruso (Eagle Eye, Disturbia). The flick is a drama that takes an adult look at the Jack and the Beanstalk fairy tale. When a princess is kidnapped, a long-standing peace between men and giants becomes threatened, and a young farmer is given an opportunity to lead a dangerous expedition to the giant kingdom to rescue her. Darren Lemke, writer/director of the indie thriller Lost starring Dean Cain, penned the script. Mark Bomback (Live Free or Die Hard, Deception, Godsend) did a rewrite. The production is expected to be bigger in scale and budget than Caruso’s previous films. Neal Moritz (I Am Legend) and David Dobkin (Fred Claus) will produce.
