Tracy Morgan Joins Ice Cube in Comedy ‘Fist Fight’

Tracy Morgan is returning to acting 14 months after the tragic car accident that left his friend and comedian, James McNair, dead.

Morgan will join Ice Cube and Charlie Day in the comedy “Fist Fight.”

Jillian Bell and “Breaking Bad’s” Dean Norris round out the cast for the film, which Richie Keen is directing.

The film follows two teachers (Cube and Day) who work in a broken-down school system and wind up in a fist fight with each other. The script was written by Evan Susser and Van Robichaux. Morgan will play a coach at the high school.

Shawn Levy is producing with Max Greenfield and John Rickard, while Day is executive producing with Dan Cohen, Marty Ewing and Billy Rosenberg. Production starts this month in Atlanta.

Morgan, who best known for his role on NBC’s “30 Rock,” last appeared on screen opposite Chris Rock in Paramount’s “Top Five. »

Friday Dad Reynaldo Rey Dies at 75

Reynaldo Rey was born to make people laugh. The veteran entertainer, who spent years opening for Redd Foxx and then became best known for playing the father of one of Ice Cube's bumbling pals in Friday, died Thursday morning, reports. He was 75. Per TMZ, which was first with the sad news, Rey passed away at a Los Angeles hospital where he was being treated for complications of a stroke he suffered last year. Rey stole his scenes as the nameless dad of DJ Pooh's Red ("Red's father" was the part) in the hit 1995 comedy Friday and he would reunite with Ice Cube later in 2008's First Sunday.
