The campaign had been the second-most successful crowdfunding campaign for a movie. It was funded through Indiegogo with over 50,000 contributors and raised 77% of the $5.7 million record for crowdfunding for a film, set by the “Veronica Mars” movie on Kickstarter in 2013.
Perks offered as incentives that were sold on the first day included a producer title for $10,000, a speaking actor role for $10,000, a trip to the ballpark with the main actors for $15,000 and the patrol car to be used in the filming for $35,000.
“Super Troopers 2” met the initial goal of $2 million in 26 hours. Fox Searchlight agreed to release the sequel if the $2 million goal was met.

“I think I bring a new face to the Democratic Party,” said Quezada, who is seeking the seat in Bernalillo County. “We need to reach out to our young people — the young Chicanos, the young Latinos — and get them involved in this process and let them know this is important.”
Quezada played DEA agent Steven Gomez in the AMC series, which was set and filmed in Albuquerque. He currently sits on the Albuquerque school board, and is expected to face at least three challengers for the open seat in 2016.
The actor and comedian is running on a platform for more Mexican-American politicians and against urban sprawl. Bernalillo County is currently in the midst of controversy regarding development and water scarcity.

Last month the team behind Super Troopers took to fundraising site Indie Gogo in order to raise money to make Super Troopers 2 happen. The Broken Lizard troupe needed $2 million to make the sequel, and that amount was funded in the blink of an eye. The final total was a whopping amount, over double what the film actually needed. However it’s not over yet.
Perks continue to be sold over at the Super Troopers 2 Indie Gogo page, and if $5 million can be raised, then Brian Cox has promised to return as Captain O’Hagan (see the video below). Of course, the whole Broken Lizard gang are back, with Jay Chandrasekhar, Steve Lemme, Kevin Heffernan, Erik Stolhanske, and Paul Soter.
Super Troopers is one of my all-time favourite comedies, and I can remember being surprised and enthralled on my first visit to see it at the cinema. I’m »

Broken Lizard, the cult comedy troupe responsible for Club Dread and Beerfest, will be making a sequel to their beloved Super Troopers. Variety reports that Broken Lizard’s Indiegogo campaign not only surpassed its $2 million goal, it earned a whopping $4.4 million, usurping Zach Braff’s Wish I Was Here as the second-most successful crowdsourced film campaign ever, behind Veronica Mars, which made $5.7 million. Desperation may be a stinky cologne, but crowdsourcing is totally legit. As an incentive for donations, the troupe released its first film, Tin Foil Monkey Agenda, exclusively to contributors. The original Super Troopers, made for a miniscule $1.2 million in 2001, earned $23 million at the box office. It depicts the misadventures of a handful of inept (but utterly lovable) Vermont state troopers, who spend their time filling lockers with shaving cream and eating maple syrup. The Indiegogo campaign, funded by over 50,000 contributors, ended at midnight Friday with 77% of the $5.7 million record for crowdfunding for a film, set in by the “Veronica Mars” movie on Kickstarter in 2013. It raised 42% more than the $3.1 million for Zach Braff’s “Wish I Was Here,” which had been the second-largest crowdfunding effort until earlier this month when the Alan Tudyk-Nathan Fillion project “Con Man” raised $3.16 million.
The “Super Troopers” met the initial goal of $2 million in 26 hours, assuring that the sequel will go into production this summer, 14 years after the original “Super Troopers” was released. Fox Searchlight had agreed to release the sequel if the $2 million goal was met.

As of 5 p.m. Pdt, the Indiegogo campaign had taken in $2.14 million — thus assuring that the sequel will go into production this summer, 14 years after the original “Super Troopers” was released. The troupe said that Fox Searchlight had agreed to release the sequel if the $2 million goal was met.
The 30-day campaign could eclipse the $5.7 million record for crowdfunding for a film, set by the “Veronica Mars” movie on Kickstarter.
“Super Troopers 2″ reunites all five Troopers from the original film — Jay Chandrasekhar, Kevin Heffernan, Steve Lemme, Paul Soter and Erik Stolhanske. The quintet play goofy Vermont state troopers with a penchant for pranks.
Pre-production on the film will begin in May, with principal photography starting this summer in the Northeast.

Fans of the 2002 cult classic comedy Super Troopers have been waiting 13 years for Super Troopers 2, but there has been no movement on the sequel for quite some time. Director Jay Chandrasekhar revealed three years ago that a legal situation was holding up progress on the follow-up, but now the Broken Lizard troupe (Jay Chandrasekhar, Erik Stolhanske, Steve Lemme, Kevin Heffernan, Paul Soter) is looking to fans to help get Super Troopers 2 made through an IndieGogo campaign. The filmmakers/stars are seeking $2 million to get their sequel off the ground, with Fox Searchlight agreeing to distribute the movie if they can raise the money themselves. Take a look at part of Broken Lizard's statement on the IndieGogo campaign page, adding that production will begin this summer if they meet the $2 million goal.

The time is meow! Super Troopers 2 could finally become a reality thanks to an IndieGoGo campaign which launched a few hours ago. The Broken Lizard crew are looking for at least $2 million, but would prefer more. According to the team, if they don’t reach the $2 million mark, then Super Troopers 2 won’t get made.
“We’ve been waiting for years to do this, and meow the time has come,” they write on their IndieGoGo page. “Our mustaches are thick, furry, and authoritative. The script is written and we’re getting all antsy in our pantsy to start shooting. There’s just one problem: While the studio has given us permission to make the sequel, and agreed to distribute it (at least in the USA and Canada), we need to fund the movie ourselves.”

Today, the Broken Lizard gang announced their latest shenanigans: They're asking for $2 million in crowdfunded donations to make a follow-up to Super Troopers. The last time we heard about this potential sequel, Broken Lizard had finished a script for the film and handed it to Fox Searchlight, which reportedly "loved" it. Now we learn there were limits to their love: As Jay Chandrasekhar explained in a statement, "Since we refused to make a sequel in which the highway cops have morphed into superhero-vampires, Fox Searchlight proposed the following deal: They'll release the film, but we have to raise all of the money." Rewards for donating include one of the cop cars from the film, a marijuana vacation with the cast in Colorado, and the opportunity to drink against the guys in a real-life Beerfest. If you win that one, just remember: Spin the boot when the bubble comes. »

“Super Troopers 2″ re-unites all five Troopers from the original film — Jay Chandrasekhar, Kevin Heffernan, Steve Lemme, Paul Soter, Erik Stolhanske. The quintet played goofy Vermont state troopers with a penchant for pranks who were suddenly forced to solve a murder and bust a drug-smuggling ring. Brian Cox played their commander.
“We finally have the chance to make ‘Super Troopers 2,'” said Chandrasekhar. “But since we refused to write a sequel where the highway cops have morphed into super hero-vampires, Fox Searchlight proposed the following deal: They’ll release the film, but we have to raise all of the money. So we’ve turned to Indiegogo and our fans to prove that it’s finally time for ‘Super Troopers 2′ to get made. »
