Juan is a girl struggling with her desires of masculinity
soulflavor796 December 2005
This short is a must see. This is original and very genuine. Very touching. Simple and to the point. I did not rate it as a 10 because it should be shot again with better quality digital or film. The direction could be clearer. However, the story speaks for itself and is clear on its own. Dona Rigoberta, played by Maria G Martinez, is like a Dona that I have grown up with in my childhood and the actress portrayed the role to the "T". The choice and direction for Jeanine Monterroza as Juan captured the tomboy qualities that the role demanded. A great balance. The director captured the lively neighborhood that surrounds Juan. The clash of American and Latino life is clear without beating the audience over the head.
