Suicide Squad's Jared Leto Joins Anticipated Blade Runner Sequel

18 August 2016 12:49 PM, PDT | LatinoReview | See recent LatinoReview news »

For a while, it seemed like actor and Thirty Seconds to Mars frontman Jared Leto was all but done with acting. He'd always kept his acting roles well-curated, but following his 2009 role in Mr. Nobody, he took a long break. It wasn't until 2013's Dallas Buyer's Club (and his subsequent Oscar win) that he seemed to have a bit of an acting resurgence. He signed on as the Joker in Suicide Squad, as well as the rest of the Dceu, giving him more exposure than ever before.

Leto seems to be continuing that trend, as according to SuperHeroHype, the actor is set to join the anticipated sequel to Ridley Scott's 1982 film, Blade Runner. He will be joining a cast that includes Harrison Ford (reprising his role from the original film), Ryan Gosling (in a new, unspecified leading role), Robin Wright, Ana de Armas, Sylvia Hoeks, Carla Juri, Mackenzie Davis, »

Wild Cards: George R.R. Martin superhero series coming to TV

7 August 2016 9:17 AM, PDT | Den of Geek | See recent Den of Geek news »

Mike Cecchini Aug 8, 2016

Ever wonder what a George R.R. Martin take on superheroes would look like? You're about to find out with the Wild Cards TV series...

Wild Cards, the long-running series of superhero prose anthologies edited by George R.R. Martin and Melinda M. Snodgrass is coming to TV, possibly just in time to fill the Game Of Thrones shaped hole in your viewing schedule.

Universal Cable Productions has picked up the rights to make a Wild Cards TV series, which means that when this show hits screens, it's likely to be either on Syfy or The USA Network

The news was announced by Mr. Martin himself on his blog. I'll let him tell you in his own words what the overall concept of Wild Cards is.

"The shared world of the Wild Cards diverged from our own on September 15, 1946 when an alien virus was released in the skies over Manhattan, »

Jared Leto Speaks on Gay and Minority Actors

4 August 2016 11:00 AM, PDT | | See recent Backstage news »

Jared Leto loves pushing boundaries on and off set when it comes to the roles he takes (as evidenced most recently by his time as the Joker in the upcoming “Suicide Squad,” where he sent co-star Margot Robbie a live rat). While this upcoming performance remains to be seen, the Oscar winner and Method actor wowed audiences and the Academy alike when he played a transgender woman named Rayon battling AIDS in “Dallas Buyers Club.” But he was turning in impressive and surprising work in “Requiem for a Dream,” “Mr. Nobody,” and “American Psycho” before then. However, if Leto were a gay actor, he’s not sure he would’ve had the same opportunities, he recently told GQ Style magazine. Read: “Are You a Method or Classical Actor?” “I definitely don’t think a gay leading man would have the same opportunities as a straight leading man. I don’t think that. »

Helen Mirren Arrives in New Fast and Furious 8 Set Photo

3 August 2016 11:35 AM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

Back in June, Oscar-winning actress Helen Mirren confirmed she had joined the cast of Fast and Furious 8, which came about after she commented last year that she wants to play a "mad driver" in a Fast & Furious movie. Unfortunately, the actress won't be doing any actual driving in the movie. And she'll only be on the set for one day. It seems that day has already come, with franchise star Vin Diesel sharing our first look at Helen Mirren on the set of Fast and Furious 8.

Vin Diesel revealed on Instagram yesterday that it was an "honor and joy" to work with Helen Mirren, although no details were given for her role. The photo shows Vin Diesel sporting a traditional Fast & Furious look with a sleeveless shirt, while Helen Mirren is dressed far more elegant. We don't know any details about what Vin Diesel's Dominic Torreto and Helen Mirren »

Film Review: ‘Suicide Squad’

2 August 2016 9:00 AM, PDT | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »

Blame it on Batman, but the DC universe has gotten awfully dark in recent years, especially compared with the candy-colored competition over at Marvel. Rather than bringing levity and irreverence to the increasingly unpleasant comic-book sphere, as its psychedelic acid-twisted marketing campaign suggests, “Suicide Squad” plunges audiences right back into the coal-black world of “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice,” picking up after the Man of Steel’s demise to imagine a government so desperate that its only hope to fight the next “meta-human” threat is by assembling a team of the gnarliest super-villains around.

While that idea doesn’t make a lick of sense — especially since the U.S. wouldn’t be facing a meta-human threat if overzealous federal agent Amanda Waller (Viola Davis) hadn’t unlocked these bad guys to form Task Force X in the first place — implausibility alone doesn’t make it any less enticing to »

Latest Fast and Furious 8 Set Video Goes Inside the Toy Shop

15 July 2016 10:55 AM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

It's the end of another work week today, which means its also time for Fast Fridays, with the filmmakers offering fans a new glimpse at the Fast and Furious 8 set. Ever since production started, director F. Gary Gray and the cast have taken fans behind-the-scenes to reveal what they have shot throughout the week. Today we go inside an incredible set known as the "Toy Shop."

If this "Toy Shop" looks familiar, that's because vehicle coordinator Dennis McCarthy gave fans a tour of this set, which he dubbed "automotive Valhalla" in another video which showcased this incredibly expensive car collection. However, while that video only showed us many of the cars involved, we didn't get to see anything from the actual scene they were planning, but this new YouTube video features bits and pieces of the action, along with glimpses of stars such as Dwayne Johnson, Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, »

Dwayne Johnson Finds Himself Behind Bars In New Fast 8 Photo

11 July 2016 11:17 AM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

Dwayne Johnson may have been locked and loaded in the most recent photo to surface for Fast 8, but a lot can transpire in the space of a fortnight, as evidenced by the actor’s ever-popular Instagram feed.

Continuing to champion the arrival of F. Gary Gray’s blockbuster sequel and, in particular, the changes that await one Luke Hobbs, Johnson shared a brand new image of his towering character shackled in handcuffs and behind bars. Could he possibly be paying a visit to Jason Statham’s returning Deckard Shaw? Or is The Rock in a spot of trouble himself?

Have a gander at the image below, and speculate with us in the comments section.

The Iceman Cometh: Dwayne Johnson Shares Cool New Set Pic From Fast 8

29 June 2016 9:59 AM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

What’s an impressive ride without a badass driver behind the wheel?

One week on from introducing fans to his hulking Ice Ram, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has taken to Instagram to share an appropriately cool action shot of Hobbs, the equally muscular ally that will appear in next year’s Fast 8 as you’ve never seen him before.

That’s because, four movies into his stint aboard Universal’s Fast and Furious juggernaut, Johnson is aiming to bring Hobbs back to his murky roots. Exactly how that will play out in Fast 8 remains to be seen, but it would seem that the wrestler-turned-movie star is set for a larger chunk of screentime in Universal’s 2017 tentpole.

As Johnson sums up so succinctly: “The Iceman cometh. And I don’t f—eth around.”

Update: Universal has now rolled out a series of images that highlight the vehicles of choice for Dom and his crew. Check them out above!

Original Story: Let it be known that Luke Hobbs, the musclebound law enforcer played by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, will stop at nothing to save the world.

In his latest Instagram post, Johnson unveils his monstrous new ice truck that will be storming onto the scene in Fast 8 – specifically, during the sequel’s barnstorming action sequence that was captured in the remote Icelandic town of Akranes. Come 2017, Hobbs will be kicking ass and taking names while piloting the Ice Ram, and just last month, Johnson himself teased something of a new chapter for the franchise’s friendly giant.

Poised to return to his roots, Fast 8 could stand as the biggest turning point for Hobbs as a character. The Iceman Cometh, »

Cars Rain From The Sky In Explosive New Set Video For F. Gary Gray’s Fast 8

10 June 2016 12:27 PM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

It’s Friday, and that can only mean another status report emerging from the set of F. Gary Gray’s blockbuster sequel, Fast 8.

From the crowded streets of Cuba to Arkanes, a remote and bitter-cold town on the coast of Iceland, Universal’s production has clocked up some mileage since cameras started rolling earlier this year, and the latest location to play host to the 2017 tentpole is Cleveland, Ohio.

More News From The Web

In typical Fast and Furious fashion, the snippet above showcases Gray orchestrating an intricate sequence that involves a multi-storey car park and some good old-fashioned vehicular destruction. Plus, having starred in practically every installment in the series to date, the fact that Vin Diesel teases an action sequence “unlike anything we’ve ever seen” really drives the point home that, yes, Universal have no intention of taking the foot off the pedal anytime soon.

Yet More Photos And Video Snippets Emerge From Fast 8 Set

Currently lensing in Cleveland, Ohio, it’s been quite the globe-trotting journey for Fast 8.

From the sun-scorched streets of Cuba to Arkanes, a remote town on the coast of Iceland, F. Gary Gray (Straight Outta Compton) has ensured the franchise’s rip-roaring sense of adventure remains intact for his maiden entry in Universal’s series.

He’s been documenting Fast 8‘s travels, too, using Instagram to establish something of an open dialog between the fanbase and the team guiding the sequel to its April 2017 release date. The latest media dump focus on the movie’s base of operations in Iceland, which also heralded the construction of the largest blue screen in Fast and Furious history.

Production has been under way for the past month on Fast and Furious 8, with the sequel already shooting in both Cuba and Iceland. The crew recently started a new tradition called #FastFridays, where they share a video from the set every week. But director F. Gary Gray has now started sharing even more videos and photos throughout the entire week. It seems production has shifted back to the U.S., with teh filmmaker now teasing that they wanted to capture some extra shots in the U.S.

Over the past few hours, F. Gary Gray has shared five different videos and photos through Instagram, one of which gives us a look at Kristofer Hivju, who was first seen in the cast photo that debuted earlier today. While we don't get to see the actor in action, we do see his intense look as he watches footage that was shot earlier in the day. »

Fast 8 Set Photo Assembles Universal’s Starry Crew Of Petrolheads

6 June 2016 7:40 AM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

It began life as a low-key riff on Point Break exactly 15 years ago and now, Universal’s Fast and Furious juggernaut is a franchise that is ostensibly one of the biggest in the business.

Hoping to uphold tradition in early 2017 is F. Gary Gray’s Fast 8, the first entry in a planned trilogy of movies that will culminate with the release of Fast and Furious 10 – yes, 10 – in 2021. But long before Universal retires its car-racing flagship for the time being, the Toretto crew will be assembled for another globetrotting affair, and series stalwart Vin Diesel has offered fans a peek of that ensemble via Instagram.

A new “This Week in #F8” video shows the cast of the eighth installment in the Fast & Furious series assembling for their first day on set together. The video is the third behind-the-scenes weekly update to be released on the franchise’s YouTube channel. Watch it below…

Such returning cast members from Furious 7 as Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Nathalie Emmanuel, Jason Statham, Ludacris, Dwayne Johnson and Kurt Russell can be seen in the video, as well as newcomer Scott Eastwood, who will be playing the protégé of Russell’s Mr. Nobody.

Shooting for the movie began in Iceland in March and has since hit such other locations as Cuba and Cleveland.

Fast 8 will be the first entry in the series since 2006’s The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift to not star Paul Walker, who died in a 2013 single-vehicle crash.

Watch As The Extended Toretto Family Hatch A Plan In New Fast 8 Set Video

Watch as F. Gary Gray gets the gang back together for another globetrotting adventure riddled with explosions and death-defying stunts in today’s all-new set video for 2017 sequel, Fast 8.

Heralding the first day that the Universal tentpole has welcomed all leading members of the Toretto crew back for the one scene, the clip above includes fleeting glimpses of Kurt Russell’s Mr. Nobody, along with Gray himself orchestrating the segment that sees Dom and the gang hatch a plan that is surely tailored around – or in spite of – Charlize Theron’s franchise newcomer, Cipher.

On board to play Fast 8‘s no-nonsense baddie – flanked by Suicide Squad star Scott Eastwood and Kristofer Hivju – the specifics of Cipher and indeed the sequel’s arc in general are being locked away behind-closed-doors; stowed away in a cell not unlike the one that Jason Statham found himself in just as the credits rolled on Furious 7. »

First Look At Charlize Theron As Fast & Furious 8 Villain

With shooting currently taking place in Cuba, details of F. Gary Gray’s (Straight Outta Compton) highly anticipated Fast & Furious 8 have started to drop, mainly focusing on the new cast members. Scott Eastwood, son of Clint, will be joining the high octane insanity as protege to Kurt Russell’s government agent, Mr. Nobody, but the addition we’re most excited about is Charlize Theron’s big bad, Cipher. Any more information is thin on the ground, but Universal Pictures have released the first image of Cipher, showing she has a shared love of Metallica and high calibre weaponry. I wouldn’t have thought they could top Jason Statham’s near invincible Deckard Shaw, but Theron could seriously give him a run for his money.
