Jason Schwartzman to Guest Star on ‘Parks & Rec,’ Bradley Whitford on ‘Go On’

22 December 2012 6:36 PM, PST | ScreenRant.com | See recent Screen Rant news »

Though some of audiences favorite shows are on holiday hiatus right now before returning in January, that doesn’t mean work isn’t being done behind the scenes for new episodes.

In fact, two of NBC’s comedies just enlisted some fantastic guest stars. First, Jason Schwartzman will appear in an episode of Parks & Recreation; and second, Bradley Whitford will be stopping by Go On to see his old Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip co-star Matthew Perry.

The Huffington Post has learned that Jason Scwartzman (who last appeared in Moonrise Kingdom) will show up for an episode of Parks & Rec where he will play Dennis Lerpiss, the owner of the last independent movie rental shop in Pawnee. Cleverly called VideoDome, the store is ...

'Go On': Matthew Perry and Bradley Whitford have a 'Studio 60' reunion

20 December 2012 11:03 AM, PST | Zap2It - From Inside the Box | See recent Zap2It - From Inside the Box news »

Matthew Perry will welcome one of his former co-stars to his new series "Go On" later this season.

No, there's not a "Friends" reunion in the offing. Bradley Whitford, who starred with Perry in "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip," will guest on an episode airing after the new year.

"Working with Bradley Whitford again is so much fun," Perry tweeted Wednesday (Dec. 19). "I mean, I wish we weren't in a hot tub together, but you can't ask for everything."

There's no word yet on the character Whitford will be playing -- or if, in fact, he and Perry's Ryan King do, in fact, end up in a hot tub.

Bradley Whitford Reuniting With Matthew Perry

20 December 2012 7:08 AM, PST | Vulture | See recent Vulture news »

Bradley Whitford will be guest-starring on an upcoming episode of Go On, creating a Studio 60 reunion with Matthew Perry, per Perry's tweets. We prefer to think of it as a West Wing reunion, though; even though Joe Quincy was only on three episodes, he and Josh really had something there. Also, if Whitford's Go On character could vaguely mention his wife Donna and how great they are both doing, that would bring us an embarrassing amount of joy. Just a suggestion, show. »

'Revenge' Recap: Holidays From Hell

26 November 2012 6:15 AM, PST | Rollingstone.com | See recent Rolling Stone news »

I don't know how Revenge does it. Even the flashback episodes raise more questions than they answer. At this point in the season, virtually every character is set up to be either a revenger or a revengee, and we're still no closer to learning the truth about the mysteries surrounding the Initiative or how Emily plans to destroy the Graysons. The biggest questions I have after this trip back to Thanksgiving 2006 are: which prison full of stock television villains emptied itself to populate this episode, and why didn't they split »

Aaron Sorkin reveals Steve Jobs Biopic will be Three Scenes Long, Real Time at Product Launches

16 November 2012 8:30 AM, PST | HeyUGuys.co.uk | See recent HeyUGuys news »

We heard back in November last year that Sony had signed Aaron Sorkin (The Social Network, The West Wing) to pen the script for the upcoming biopic of the late Steve Jobs, who tragically passed away in October 2011, following a battle with pancreatic cancer.

Sorkin is one of the most talented writers, working in both television and film, and I can’t think of anyone I’d rather have penning the script for the studio’s biopic of Jobs, best known for his work as co-founder of Apple, and also Pixar.

Speaking at the Newsweek and The Daily Beast summit, Sorkin has revealed some very interesting details about the film’s structure:

“I hope I don’t get killed by the studio for giving too much away,” Sorkin said, “but this entire movie is going to be three scenes, and three scenes only, that all take place in real time. »

[Spoiler Alert If You Haven't Watched The Most Recent American Horror Story: Asylum]

Last night’s American Horror Story: Asylum, ended with Lana (Sarah Paulson) trapped in the basement lair of Dr. Thredson/Bloody Face (Zachary Quinto) and there’s not exactly a light at the end of the tunnel for the intrepid reporter (For more, read EW’s exclusive interviews with co-creator Ryan Murphy and Quinto). EW talked to Paulson about the major twist, last week’s truly disturbing de-programming scene, and what’s a head for Lana.

Entertainment Weekly: This episode was soooo good. And Ryan told me how he keeps saying, “Pray for Lana.”

Matthew Perry No Friend to Good Wife Hubby

12 November 2012 12:28 PM, PST | Boomtron | See recent Boomtron news »

Former Friends star Matthew Perry has made a splash with his new show, Go On, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t have time in his busy schedule to return to the set of The Good Wife.

During season three of Good Wife, Perry portrayed Mike Kresteva, a skeezy attorney. Now EW reports that Perry is bringing Mike Kresteva back to the CBS drama early next year.

We’re smack dab in the center of season four. Peter is campaigning once again and Kresteva wants to run against him. Will it be a clean race? Yeah right!

Perhaps the better question is this one: Will Peter and Alicia stay on the same side this election season, or will something unexpected derail their marriage once again? In a recent interview, star Julianna Margulies explained that Alicia’s at her most attracted to her hubby when he is in politician mode, »

Make 'Em Laugh: D.L. Hughley's "Reset"

16 October 2012 3:24 PM, PDT | JustPressPlay.net | See recent JustPressPlay news »

D.L. Hughley (last spotted on the short-lived Aaron Sorkin series Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip) is more of a political and cultural commentator than a comedian, because comedians are meant to be funny. In this uncut Showtime special, Hughley unleashes an hour’s worth of jokes about politics, sex and relationships.

Starting off his show with a few homophobic jokes (he will later circle back around to the topic and try to defend his views on homosexuality right before he drops another homophobic punch line) he quickly begins a tirade about the word “nigger.” For ten minutes he throws out racist jokes about both black and white people saying “nigger.” He seems to be going to for the lowest common denominator in his jokes instead of saying anything culturally incisive.

The Top 10 Guest Spots We’d Love To See On TV

Last week, it was announced that Patton Oswalt, who hass appeared on such series as CBS’s Two and a Half Men, Fox’s Raising Hope and Showtime’s United States of Tara, will guest star on the upcoming season of FX’s Justified. He will play a former high school classmate of Raylan Givens (Timothy Olyphant).

Great guest spots are one of my favorite aspects of television. The occurrence can combine an actor and a show that are perfect for one another — even if it’s just temporarily. It can also draw viewers to a show they haven’t checked out yet, possibly giving a struggling series a boost in ratings. Some of my favorite recent moments on series have incorporated fantastic guest stars, including Parker Posey on FX’s Louie and Fox’s New Girl, Giancarlo Esposito on NBC’s Community and »

Ed Asner Wants to Be on The Newsroom

5 October 2012 1:00 PM, PDT | Vulture | See recent Vulture news »

Jane Fonda's scheming Newsroom character Leona Lansing might need to watch her back next season. At least she will if Ed Asner gets his wish. "I could be Fox News," Asner suggested to Vulture last night at the opening-night party for the Broadway show Grace. "Jane Fonda, she's awesome, but I can deal with her. God knows in the past I have. I can give her a run for her money," he said. Okay, so he can go toe-to-toe with the cast; plus, he has experience rattling off Sorkinese thanks to his time on Studio 60. That just leaves one obstacle: "I hate Aaron Sorkin because he didn't hire me," Asner said. Right this wrong, Sorkin! »
