Familiar and boring
29 March 2015 | by (Victoria, BC) – See all my reviews

A young man caught up in the drug trade of Los Angeles suddenly finds himself in an opportunistic yet dangerous way out for him and his loved ones. Haven't we seen this basic plot many times before? Actually, the familiarity of the movie wasn't a problem for me. Neither was the fact that the prominently billed Danny Trejo actually has a role that's basically an extended cameo. Also what wasn't a problem for me were the real cheap production values, from the VHS camcorder-like cinematography to barely any set dressing. But what WAS a problem for me was how boring the movie was. The movie not only moves at a snail- like pace, but even the more intense sequences have an almost matter- of-fact tone to them that drains any possible excitement and tension the movie could have generated. I will admit some of the acting by the largely no-name cast is passable, but even the more talented actors can't bring any life into this utter bore.
