This film was based on the true story of Joshua Anderson, who at age 12, was killed when his skateboard left the sidewalk and was hit by a five ton delivery truck going the same direction.
The final draft of the script was written over a three day period. Pre-production was completed in just five days. Actual principle photography wrapped in a total of fifty-nine hours. The final director's cut took just nine days.
The entire production was shot with only twelve crew members.
Sheriff's Deputies depicted in the bicycle chase scenes were actual sworn peace officers donating their time while off-duty.
Producers were given complete access to the entire city without the requirements of film permits, once it was learned that it was an After School Special.
