Update: Okay, I finally figured out that both scenes are based on an urban legend and no one copied anyone else. My bad. Kudos then, to Lori Grossman for a very funny adaptation of an urban legend. I'll leave the original comment here for a little while just in case anyone read it, then they can hopefully read the update.
Original Comment: This short was funny, but I'm pretty sure that the entire premise/joke was taken from a scene from The Waiting Game (1999), written and directed by Ken Liotti. I think even some of the lines are exactly the same. The use of the glitter spray, which is the ultimate punch line, was definitely in The Waiting Game. I think, though I'm far less sure of this, that even the word 'fancy' was cribbed from there. And I didn't notice any credit given to that source, though I could be wrong. Perhaps Lori Grossman and Ken Liotta are friends? Maybe permission was asked, but who knows? It just seems a little sketchy to me. I'd appreciate any correction to this information or else a confirmation of it.
