- Factual errors: When Kristen puts a record on, she places the needle at the beginning, and we hear Joanna Newsom's "The Sprout And The Bean." That isn't the first song on either side of any of her vinyl albums.
- Continuity: When Kristen hides in the closet, she looks upward towards the masked villain. The slats in the door are facing downward, so she wouldn't be able to see him.
- Continuity: When Kristen is trying to turn off the smoke detector, the button is facing towards the door to the house, but when the camera switches to her, then to the smoke detector again, the button is facing the opposite direction.
- Continuity: When crawling out of the ditch, Kristen's hand changes from being wrapped to unwrapped between cuts.
- Continuity: In the first scene, the engagement ring box is black. When the couple is together at the table, the box is blue.
- Continuity: After James eats his ice cream and Kristen comes to the table, cigarette smoke emerges from the bottom of the screen. When the camera cuts to James, then back to Kristen, the smoke disappears.
- Continuity: Kristen goes to the shed to call for help on the short wave radio. She crouches under the table, placing the handset upright on the floor. In the next 2 shots, the handset is seen lying down. In the shot after that, just before she picks it up, the handset is upright.
- Continuity: James wraps his necktie around Kristen's injured hand. In the next scene, he is wearing the tie. In the scene after that, he is not wearing the tie.
- Continuity: The ice cream on the table changes from Vanilla to Strawberry.
- Continuity: When Kristen falls and hurts her ankle in the leaves, she starts to climb and crawl. The black tie covering her wound is not on her hand. In the next shot, the tie is back on her hand.
- Incorrectly regarded as goofs: In the backyard, no smoke is coming out of the chimney, despite a fire burning in the fireplace. Earlier in the movie, the smoke alarm went off because the chimney was blocked.
- Continuity: Kristen cuts her hand on a lamp, drawing blood. Later in the film, her hand shows no sign of damage.
- Continuity: The amount of ice cream in the carton changes throughout the movie.
- Continuity: James throws a bottle of champagne in the front yard. In the next scene, it is back on the dining room table.
- Continuity: The 2 candles on the table are far apart, then much closer together. In the next shot, there are 4 candles.
- Continuity: When Dollface takes off her mask, she is wearing a jacket. The camera goes elsewhere, then goes back to Dollface, without a jacket on.
- Continuity: When Pin-Up Girl smashes her truck into the couple's car, the window shrinks, and turns into a heart-shaped crack between shots.
- Continuity: Blood appears and disappears on James' shirt throughout the movie.
- Revealing mistakes: James loads the shotgun shells the wrong way, but the gun still fires.
- Continuity: The record player rotates to the right, then to the left.
- Audio/visual unsynchronized: In the unrated version, when Kristen is crawling on the floor, the sound of her hand thumping on the floor doesn't match the screen.
- Audio/visual unsynchronized: Kristen's scream continues after her mouth closes.
- Incorrectly regarded as goofs: Kristen trips over some chairs, but in a later scene they are up again. The strangers move objects around to confuse victims, so the chairs may have been intentional.
- Continuity: After Kristen injures her ankle, she limps in the house, then walks perfectly. Immediately after, she limps again.
- Incorrectly regarded as goofs: When the Man in the Mask knocks Kristen out and drags her through the hallway, she is wearing the plaid shirt and jeans she changed into earlier in the movie. In the next scene, when she and James are tied to the dining room chairs, she is wearing the dress she wore in the very beginning of the movie. Several hours have passed, so the strangers could have changed her back into the dress.
- Factual errors: The young proselytizers, identified in the end credits as Mormon missionaries, are clearly not Mormons. Mormon missionaries are at least 19, and wear name tags. They do not approach potential converts as potential sinners. No Mormon pamphlet is called "Christian Living."
- Incorrectly regarded as goofs: One of the strangers startles Kristen at the back window. Kristen turns around and bumps into one of the dining table chairs, slamming the record player and scratching the album, which continuously skips over the same phrase. In previous shots, the record player was clear across the room from the dining table. However, the strangers move objects around to confuse their victims. The record player could have been moved intentionally.
- Incorrectly regarded as goofs: Mike is supposed to be drunk, but shows no signs of being drunk at all. However, hours may have passed since the reception, meaning that Mike may have had time to take a quick nap or the alcohol has worn off. Also, the surprise of the object hitting his window could've sobered him up a bit.
- Audio/visual unsynchronized: When Kristen is walking towards the back door to investigate the sounds in the backyard, her breathing doesn't match the movement of her shoulders.
- Continuity: After James leaves in the beginning and Kristen is alone, the record player turns off without anybody turning it off.
- Continuity: During the part when James sneaks out of the house with his shotgun to investigate leaving Kristen at home by herself, we see that the time on the clock in the house is 5:05 am. Moments later after James is struck in the woods by one of the strangers, we return to Kristen in the house and the time on the clock is now 4:30 am.
- Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): In the final scene of the movie, after the boys hand over the leaflet, we see the car start up and the boys begin to walk away. On close inspection, the boy on the right clearly looks for a cue from someone behind the camera, and smiles.
- Continuity: The Man in the Mask's normal mask has two stitches running along near his eyes, but in the scene when Kristen is facing Dollface, MITM throws James on the floor and we see no stitches on his mask.
- Continuity: When the first stranger is at the door asking for Tamra, the porch light is out, but once it is screwed back in you get a shot from outside and there are clearly 2 working lights on the porch.
- Continuity: Kristen is out of smokes and James goes to get her some. Before he returns she's puffing away in the kitchen.

Goofs below here contain information that may give away important plot points. You may not want to read any further if you've not already seen this title.
- Continuity: SPOILER: The amount of blood on Kristen's dress decreases between being stabbed and lying on the floor.
- Audio/visual unsynchronized: SPOILER: After James shoots his friend and sees "Killer" written across the glass, he speaks to Kristen a few times before he leaves. His voice says one thing, but his lips say something else.
- Incorrectly regarded as goofs: SPOILER: Kristen is dragged by Mike's dead body some time after he was killed. You can clearly see his index finger twitch. However, a body can twitch after death. Though the heart is not beating, the central nervous system still sends impulses up and down the body, causing limbs or the head to twitch.
- Incorrectly regarded as goofs: SPOILER: The front door was blasted by a shotgun and hacked apart with an ax. When the boys come to the house and find the bodies, the main part of the door is intact. However, if you look towards the top, you can see where the axe and shotgun damage is clearly visible.
