"Siren", a movie directed and written by Andrew Mandapat and produced by Chris Lieber, Debra Mitchell, and Gary Pinyan, has the dynamics and the potential to become a feature length film. This short film is a perfect example of a film noir. The theme and the story line goes hand in hand. It has suspense, comedy, and action at the same time. It teaches one not to trust seedy and manipulative people. This is a well casted film with good actors (4 in all). I believe the black/white concept was used perfectly. Smooth, encompassing, mind-boggling, and most of all, entertaining. Andrew succeeded in making the story compelling, dark, and comprehensible to the viewers. The main actor, Ned (played by Gregory Pedemonte), is also the narrator. According to the film's director, "the themes of deception, greed, lust, and existential nihilism in those film noir classics informed every frame of this film. The challenge of telling a sufficiently dark, twisted noir plot within the conventions of a short movie was a dare that both the cast and production crew of this project could not resist." I couldn't have agreed more. A short-film that is a must see.
