  • In an April 24 2008 Newark Star Ledger interview, the writers Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg mention that the poem "The Square Root of Three" that Kumar recites was written by a classmate of theirs, David Feinberg when all three went to Randolph High School in New Jersey. They were happy they could include in the film a poem they loved while growing up, and Feinberg was thrilled to make a contribution to the film.

  • Amnesty International USA was highly critical of the film's satirical depiction of the Guantanamo Bay Detention Camp, commenting on their website that "Guantanamo is no joke." The organization's membership was encouraged to hand out fliers and fact sheets at theatrical screenings to bring attention to the alleged human rights abuses that have occurred at the camp.

  • According to Hollywood Reporter(4/27/2008 issue), Warner Bros' distribution president Dan Fellman said this movie was originally produced as a straight-to-video movie until a decision was made to release it theatrically.

  • Production Assistant Carol Trevino was killed in an auto accident while working on the film.

  • The mask Harold pulls out of Neil Patrick Harris' bag is the same as the one worn by Chris Fehn from the band Slipknot.

  • Despite the movie's title, Harold and Kumar spend just 5 minutes 33 seconds at Guantanamo Bay.

  • There is an after credits sequence.

  • Vanessa's husband-to-be is named Colton Graham, and an actor named Colton Gramm plays one of the Groomsmen at the wedding.

  • WILHELM SCREAM: During the scene when Harold and Kumar are watching the KKK meeting, when Kumar jumps over the log with the rock in his hand and the view switches back to the KKK group. The scream plays to represent Harold and Kumar jumping the two guys and taking their robes.
