It’s been well over a decade since Anthony Bourdain, former executive chef of Manhattan’s Les Halles and author of bestselling memoir “Kitchen Confidential,” became a TV star. With his Travel Channel series “No Reservations” and “The Layover,” Food Network’s “A Cook’s Tour” and stints on “The Taste” — for which he’s Emmy-nominated for his hosting duties for a second year in a row — and “Top Chef,” Bourdain is an old pro at this point. But when Bourdain and his longtime crew moved over to CNN to kick off the multiple-Emmy nominee “Parts Unknown,” they faced one big problem: How do you make something new while working in a genre — nonfiction television — that relies on repeating the same general formula every week?
“It’s a limited story that we’re telling, ultimately,” Bourdain says. “On every episode, I go someplace, I eat a bunch of stuff, and I come back. »

For all the abundance of cookery shows on TV and the countless books by celebrity chefs, film-makers have been strangely reluctant to step into the kitchen. There have been some culinary-themed movies in recent years (Julie & Julia, No Reservations) but far fewer than might have been expected. When chefs have been portrayed on screen, they've still tended to be eccentric and neurotic types in white hats and aprons. »
Sick kids in a pediatric ward are almost guaranteed to be charming, heartwarming and occasionally break your heart with very little effort, and that seems to be the goal of the Steven Spielberg-produced "Red Band Society," which will debut on Fox this fall. Oscar-winner Octavia Spencer stars as a cranky nurse who probably has a marshmallow center we haven't seen yet, or at least haven't seen in this trailer for the show. This seems to be "The Breakfast Club" with a generous sprinkling of cancer, comas and heat problems. With Spencer on board, the bar is set high from an acting perspective, and the trailer suggests these kids won't let the saccharine level get too high. At least the series has a model from which to draw material. "Polseres Vermelles" is the Catalan television show on which "Red Band Society" is based, and it was inspired by real life »

Watch Rapper/Chef Action Bronson Drink the Best Milkshake Ever His new food show will make you laugh and your mouth water. by Liam Mathews If cool guys were surveyed to determine who among them is the coolest guy, like an Oscars for cool guys, Action Bronson would probably win. If you watch the first episode of Fuck, That's Delicious, his new show on Vice's Munchies food channel, you will want nothing more than to eat a pizza from Roberta's, drink a milkshake from Eddie's Sweet Shop, and shoot the shit with your hilarious and knowledgeable friend Bronson. CNN announced a new prime-time lineup Thursday that includes Jesus, reality stars, and maybe even a little news.
Most provocatively, the network announced at its upfront presentation to advertisers in New York City, The Jesus Code, a series which promises to take viewers on a “forensic and archaeological journey through the Bible” (cue jokes about CNN looking for a ratings miracle). Religious-themed programming has been considered hot since History stunned the industry with its ratings-shattering The Bible miniseries last year.
