"Speed of Light" has four different endings. The producers all agree to keep only the shortest one. The director was furious. The first release on DVD has only the short ending. It was originally designed so that at the end of the movie there would be an abrupt black space for one minute then one by one there would be one ending after another separated by one minute of black space. The HD release (scheduled for 2011-12) will feature the option to view all the different endings.
The 2016 presentation of Speed of Light for the U.S. is covered by a binocular scope effect emphasizing the voyeuristic aspect of the film.
The film was first released in 2007 in theaters then banned before the first showing could take place for not obtaining a special rating for the rape scene then released on DVD in the U.S. and the UK with the ratings R and 18. The infamous scene was ripped and uploaded on X rated sites by some viewers and then went on to reach a phenomenal amount of views. The upload on YouTube was removed by YouTube but with the blessing of the director. A new version has been made available in 2010 for download with a yellow moving prism of light running throughout the film to somehow blur some of the scenes and although this version was deemed respectable to be downloadable,
some people described it as reeking in urine. In the HD 2016 release the whole presentation was through a binocular scope effect displaying the film within a circle with a black background around.
As the 2020 years' market seems to have re-opened its doors for DVDs, the full version of the film without anything recovering the scenes will be available on 4K along with the full two hours making of comedy with interviews with all the actors and producers.
