After having read a book about Alexander the Great (from an Italian professor), the movie was a bit of a disappointment. I must admit; the story of Alexander the Great is impossible to press together in about max 3 hours of film. Better to split the story in two movies; one about his youth in Macedonia up to his first battle in Persia,(not to forget the battle in Greece!) And then, if necessary a year later, another one about his further battles and life away from home. Because there were too little details about his several battles. The conquering of Tyrus (Sidon) I missed at all. I can imagine all this extra would have cost a lot of money, but what a couple of great movies that would have been! On the other hand the main actors were well chosen and did a very satisfactory job.
