25 November 2013 2:23 PM, PST | firstshowing.net | See recent FirstShowing.net news »

During the American Film Market, we learned that Bruce Willis would star in The Prince for Lionsgate Films and Grindstone with Emmett/Furla Films producing and financing. Brian A. Miller (House of the Rising Sun) is directing this story of a retired Las Vegas mob enforcer forced to return to the city and face his former enemies when his teenage daughter goes missing. But as we reported, Willis is playing a man who has been waiting for this mob enforcer to return to town, and is ready for a confrontation. Now Deadline has word that Jason Patric (The Losers) will play the protagonist and John Cusack will also have a role. In addition, Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson has inexplicably landed another film role along with South Korean actor and singer Rain, Johnathon Schaech and Gia Mantegna (daughter of Joe Mantegna). Idris Elba: Marvel talked to me about playing Luke Cage

21 November 2013 8:08 PM, PST | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

(Cbr) Idris Elba isn’t a stranger to the comic-book movie scene, having appeared as Roque in "The Losers," Heimdall in two "Thor" films, the alcoholic warrior-priest Moreau in "Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance." (Raise your hands if you love the latter film. Just me? All right, moving on then.) But that’s not enough superhero action for Elba: The "Luther" star tells The Huffington Post he “wouldn’t mind being the lead in a superhero movie.” In fact, he once discussed that very possibility with Marvel. “There was talk about Luke Cage at one time — I thought Luke Cage was a pretty »

Dark Poster For Sylvain White's First Film Since 'The Losers' - Adaptation Of Thriller 'Miserere'

11 October 2013 9:34 AM, PDT | ShadowAndAct | See recent ShadowAndAct news »

Here's the poster for Sylvain White's latest - his first film since The Losers in 2010 - an adaptation of French author Jean-Christophe Grangé’s thriller Miserere. The film already opened in France, but, as of today, has no USA distributor, and seemingly no interest. So the likelihood of a USA release is probably slim. Although maybe DVD or VOD availability is possible. It would be great if there were a company with the resources interested in picking up films like this to release - whether on DVD or on VOD - in the USA. We write about so many of them but we get to see so very few of them. Here's a description of the project which titled La marque des »

Idris Elba Reveals Child He Thought He'd Fathered Was Not His Son, Says "It's Tragic"

19 September 2013 11:49 AM, PDT | E! Online | See recent E! Online news »

Idris Elba is gracing the cover of this month's GQ magazine and he is looking all kinds of good. But aside from the eye candy (take your time), the usually-private actor spoke about a rather painful part of his past. The Wire actor revealed to the men's magazine how he dealt with finding out that he was not the father of a boy that he thought was his own. In 2010, Elba had gone public to reporters during a press conference for a film called The Losers that he was the proud father of a little baby boy (his second child). In fact, in an interview with The New York Times, Elba had addressed the boy by name when gushing about him. However, years later, when Essence magazine asked him »

British Drama Series 'Luther' with Idris Elba Might Hit the Big Screen

28 August 2013 8:44 AM, PDT | firstshowing.net | See recent FirstShowing.net news »

Just recently we learned that comedian Ricky Gervais might bring "The Office" character David Brent to theaters for a feature film following the former paper company boss as he tries to break into the music industry. Now some British drama might get the same treatment. The Guardian has word from The Edinburgh International Television Festival that Neil Cross wants to bring his series "Luther," which stars Pacific Rim and The Losers actor Idris Elba, to the big screen following the end of the show after three seasons. However, rather than continuing the series, the film adaptation would be a prequel. Read on! Cross mentioned the strong possibility of a film to The Guardian saying: "I've written the script and we hope to get the film made next year. Idris is a brilliant leading man and we've hoped to turn Luther into a movie for a long time. It will follow »

The James Clayton Column: Comic creators kick ass

15 August 2013 2:00 AM, PDT | Den of Geek | See recent Den of Geek news »

Feature James Clayton 16 Aug 2013 - 07:28

The arrival of Kick-Ass 2 is a reminder of how comic book artists and creators have become movie industry royalty, James writes...

I like to think that the following happened on a daily basis during the filming of Kick-Ass 2 - all cast and crew members signalled their arrival on set by announcing, "I've come here to chew bubblegum and kick ass, and I'm all out of bubblegum."

If no one actually did take the opportunity to make a tenuous title-based association and quote Roddy Piper's best line in They Live, it's a damn shame. If Kick-Ass 3 happens, someone (everyone) involved can start this motivational ritual/repeat film reference in-joke when shooting begins on that sequel. In advance, you're welcome.

Darker Trailer For Sylvain White's French Thriller 'Mark Of The Angels' (Now w/ English Translation)

Here's a new, darker trailer for Sylvain White's upcoming new feature - his last outing since The Losers in 2010 - an adaptation of French author Jean-Christophe Grangé’s thriller Miserere. And, unfortunately, like every trailer and clip we've posted on the film, this one also isn't subtitled in English! However, this time, I enlisted the help of Martine Jean, who's done some French-to-English translation for us in the past, to do the same with this new trailer. So, below, you'll find the trailer, and, underneath it, a transcript of each line of dialogue to match. I was going to take the time to download the trailer from YouTube, insert into my video »

Watch: Channing Tatum & Jamie Foxx 'Channing All Over Your Tatum'

19 June 2013 10:37 AM, PDT | firstshowing.net | See recent FirstShowing.net news »

If that headline sounds dirty, that's the idea. In what seems like a strange bit of pseudo-marketing for White House Down, co-stars Jamie Foxx and Channing Tatum have reunited for a spectacular music video for their parody song (I Wanna) Channing All Over Your Tatum. If you don't know what we're talking about, the two actors performed this song on "Jimmy Kimmel Live" following the Oscars earlier this year. Now they have guests like Tatum's Magic Mike co-star Olivia Munn, Precious lead Gabourey Sidibe, Miley Cyrus, and regular Kimmel target Matt Damon bringing the song to life. Watch it now! Here's (I Wanna) Channing All Over Your Tatum from "Jimmy Kimmel Live," via The Film Stage: White House Down is directed by action mastermind Roland Emmerich (Independence Day, Godzilla, The Patriot, The Day After Tomorrow, 2012, Anonymous) from a screenplay written by James Vanderbilt (The Amazing Spider-Man, The Losers, Zodiac). Watch: Capitol Crumbles Bit by Bit in 'White House Down' Featurette

24 May 2013 7:41 PM, PDT | firstshowing.net | See recent FirstShowing.net news »

Hot on the heels of a new poster for this summer's explosive action thriller White House Down, which features Channing Tatum in white tanktop like a certain action hero played by Bruce Willis, a cool new featurette goes behind the scenes with director Roland Emmerich. This time around, the filmmaker says it's the first time he doesn't just completely destroy Washington D.C. in one fell swoop, but rather tears it down bit by bit. So I guess that's a little bit better. There's some interview bits with the cast, including one of our favorites, Jason Clarke, and tons of the crew members. Plus, there's some new footage too. Watch! Here's the featurette for Roland Emmerich's White House Down from Yahoo: White House Down is directed by action mastermind Roland Emmerich (Independence Day, Godzilla, The Patriot, The Day After Tomorrow, 2012, Anonymous) from a screenplay written by James Vanderbilt (The Amazing Spider-Man, »

Channing Tatum is John McClane on New 'White House Down' Poster

24 May 2013 8:22 AM, PDT | firstshowing.net | See recent FirstShowing.net news »

Well, the poster is slightly new. It was actually released earlier this month, but it's been ever so slightly tweaked so that Channing Tatum isn't covering Jamie Foxx so much. In a way, that's actually not a bad move since the second trailer for Roland Emmerich's summer action bonanza, White House Down, plays out more like a buddy cop action comedy as opposed to Tatum doing all the heavy lifting to protect Foxx as the President of the United States of America. Honestly, this could almost be a poster for a relocated remake of Die Hard with a Vengeance, because Tatum is clearly doing his best John McClane. Look below! Here's the retooled poster for Roland Emmerich's White House Down straight from Columbia Pictures: White House Down is directed by action mastermind Roland Emmerich (Independence Day, Godzilla, The Patriot, The Day After Tomorrow, 2012, Anonymous) from a screenplay »

Watch 3 New Clips From Sylvain White's French Macabre Thriller 'Mark Of The Angels'

Just about everything we've seen of this film has been in French, with no subtitles; and that's because it's a French film with no announced plans at the moment for any releases in English-language markets. But we continue to follow it, in the event that it does travel; but also because we're high on it! And we do have French readers, so I'm sure they certainly appreciate the coverage. Here are 3 new clips (not subtitled unfortunately) from Sylvain White's upcoming new feature - his last outing since The Losers in 2010 - which is an adaptation of French author Jean-Christophe Grangé’s thriller Miserere. Watch: Second Trailer for Roland Emmerich's 'White House Down'

2 May 2013 4:52 PM, PDT | firstshowing.net | See recent FirstShowing.net news »

"How do you lose a rocket launcher?!" In the midst of all the sci-fi and superheroes this summer, there is an action movie that harkens back to the days of Die Hard, and it's not another Die Hard sequel. I'm talking about Roland Emmerich's White House Down, which looks like the real Die Hard-in-the-White-House movie of 2013. Sony has debuted this second, full theatrical trailer and it's packed to the gills with all kinds of absurd action, from rocket launchers to mini-guns to everything inbetween. Jamie Foxx stars as the President, with Channing Tatum as his escort. Jason Clarke and Maggie Gyllenhaal are in there, too. Here's the second trailer for Roland Emmerich's White House Down, originally from Yahoo: White House Down is directed by action mastermind Roland Emmerich (Independence Day, Godzilla, The Patriot, The Day After Tomorrow, 2012, Anonymous) from a screenplay written by James Vanderbilt (The Amazing Spider-Man, »

'Iron Man 3' IMAX midnight poster revealed - How you can get one

22 April 2013 6:00 PM, PDT | Pop2it | See recent Pop2it news »

A very special and rare "Iron Man 3" poster has been released by Marvel. As opposed to the others, this one is drawn my a comic book artist. Illustrated by Jock, an artist known for his work on "The Losers" and "2000 Ad," this poster has been made to be given away to fans, rather than used to outside theaters to promote the movie.

Prints of the poster will be given away to those attending the very first IMAX screenings of "Iron Man 3" at participating theaters. This will be the last poster in the IMAX 12:01 series, which began in 2011 with "Real Steel." The posters feature artwork exclusive to that showing of the movie and usually end up becoming collectibles.

Whether you attend a 12:01 a.m. screening or not, "Iron Man 3" will be in theaters May 3. The movie stars Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Ben Kingsley, Don Cheadle, »

The Capitol Burns on New International 'White House Down' Posters

19 April 2013 1:08 PM, PDT | firstshowing.net | See recent FirstShowing.net news »

If the trailer is any indicator (and we'll admit it's not much to go on just yet), this summer's White House Down from Independence Day director Roland Emmerich looks better than Olympus Has Fallen. While we weren't a fan of the initial teaser poster campaign leading up to the trailer release, these two new posters are pretty cool. One featuring Channing Tatum feels a bit generic, and would easily be a Die Hard poster if Bruce Willis took his place, and the other has a pretty cool high angle on the White House burning. This should be a solid action thriller, and at least Tatum will see more screentime than G.I. Joe: Retaliation. Here's two new international posters for Roland Emmerich's White House Down from Imp Awards: White House Down is directed by action mastermind Roland Emmerich (Independence Day, Godzilla, The Patriot, The Day After Tomorrow, 2012, Anonymous) from a »

Star Trek Into The Darkness New Zoe Saldana Movie Poster

Zoe Saldana asked Jj Abrams for more of a badass role in the Star Trek sequel and she may have gotten her wish.  The actress' character Uhura graces her own Star Trek Into The Darkness character movie poster.

Zoe Saldana reprises her role as Nyota Uhura in Star Trek Into The Darkness along with her fellow USS Enterprise crew John Cho, Benedict Cumberbatch, Alice Eve, Bruce Greenwood, Simon Pegg, Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Karl Urban, Peter Weller, and Anton Yelchin.  In the reboot of 2009's Star Trek, the only action Uhura saw was in the love department with Spock (Zachary Quinto). We know Zoe Saldana can kick butt as best exemplified with her fighting style in Colombiana, The Losers and Avatar.   We're looking forward to seeing Saldana as Uhura once again with hopefully a larger role in saving the world.
