Joey King And Julia Goldani Telles Will Lead Sylvain White’s Slender Man

22 May 2017 4:26 PM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

Slender Man is a creepy, wire-thin figure that needs no introduction. Revered as something of an Internet legend since its inception in 2009, ol’ Slender has stalked nightmares and effectively clawed his way into popular culture thanks to a string of nerve-shredding short films, an appearance in Microsoft’s über-popular Minecraft and even two video games of his own in Slender: The Eight Pages and Slender: The Arrival.

For such a presence in the horror scene, it’s small wonder why it’s taken so long for a Hollywood studio to fast-track a live-action feature film, but thankfully, Screen Gems jumped at the chance early last year. David Birke (Elle, 13 Sins) was appointed screenwriter on the nascent project, and though reports indicated Slender Man would be invited out to play (read: enter production) in late 2016, we now have word that Screen Gems’ horror picture will be ushered before the cameras this spring, »

Guardians Of The Galaxy And Cinema’s Most Memorable Misfit Families

Author: Dave Roper

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is garnering widespread, positive reviews ahead of its release at the end of this week, with one of its foremost qualities being lauded by critics is the rapport and camaraderie amongst this rag-tag bunch of misfits and outcasts.

Of course part of the appeal of Vol. 1 was the organic and believable way in which this crew was put together, uniting despite their differences, but maintaining character integrity along the way. It has resulted in this family of Guardians joining a long-running tradition of cinematic misfit crews, thrown together (often by adversity) but continuing to niggle and aggravate each other. So who are the other groups in this pantheon?

The Guardians of the Galaxy

They were very much not the first to this particular party, but have done it about as well as anyone. The way in which the first film not only threw them together, »

‘The Losers’ Director Sylvain White Will Make Screen Gems’ ‘Slender Man’

5 January 2017 7:30 AM, PST | Slash Film | See recent Slash Film news »

Sylvain White has been attached to some notable projects over the past couple years. The director behind Stomp the Year worked on an adaptation of Frank Miller‘s Ronin and a movie based on the video game Castlevania, but he hasn’t helmed a feature since directing The Losers, a fluffy and enjoyable enough B-movie. Almost seven years after directing that comic book movie, […]

‘Slender Man’ Movie Finds Director in Sylvain White

4 January 2017 4:54 PM, PST | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »

Sony’s Screen Gems has tapped “Stomp the Yard” director Sylvain White for its “Slender Man” horror movie, based on the supernatural character who stalks, abducts and traumatizes people.

Screen Gems began negotiations last May to acquire feature film rights from Mythology Entertainment, Madhouse Entertainment and No Dream Entertainment. Producers are planning to start shooting by the spring.

Producers of the “Slender Man” movie are Bradley Fischer, James Vanderbilt and William Sherak for Mythology; Madhouse’s Robyn Meisinger; and No Dream’s Sarah Snow. Executive producers are Tracey Nyberg, Louis Sallerson, Adam Kolbrenner and Ryan Cunningham.

Slender Man is a tall, thin figure with unnaturally long arms and a featureless face. The figure first appeared on the Internet in 2009 as a submission in a photoshop contest in which users were challenged to edit everyday photographs to appear paranormal.

Screen Gems’ Slender Man movie lands Stomp The Yard director Sylvain White

4 January 2017 4:23 PM, PST | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

This past May, Sony and Screen Gems put a movie about viral horror sensation Slender Man into development, and now that project has a director.

According to Deadline, Stomp the Yard and The Losers helmer Sylvain White has been tapped to bring the faceless, abnormally tall Slender Man to the big screen, with production set to begin this Spring.

Slender Man was created in 2009 when Eric Knudson shared two Photoshopped images on the Something Awful internet forum featuring a tall, faceless figure in a dark suit. The character quickly went viral, inspiring a host of fan artwork, online fiction and two video games Slender: The Eight Pages and Slender: The Arrival. There have been five low budget Slender Man films made over the years: Windigo (2011), Hylo (2012), Proxy (2012), Entity (2013), and Always Watching (2015). HBO just announced its own true crime documentary, Beware the Slenderman, which arrives later this month on Monday, January 23rd. »

Slender Man Movie Gets Stomp the Yard Director

4 January 2017 3:26 PM, PST | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

Get ready for some potentially terrifying horror movie goodness, because the Slender Man movie is finally happening. The internet legend has been practically begging for a big screen adaptation for some time, but now Screen Gems has finally put the puzzle together. A director has been hired and according to a new report, Slender Man will be shooting by spring this year.

Deadline is reporting that director Sylvain White has been tapped to bring Slender Man to life. He is best known for directing the dance movie Stomp the Yard, as well as The Losers, a somewhat under-appreciated comic book movie from 2010. He also has some experience in the horror genre, having directed I Will Always Know What You Did Last Summer. Granted, that isn't what one would call a memorable, or by any stretch of the imagination necessary horror movie, but it is enough to say he won't be coming at Slender Man blindly. »

Sylvain White is now set to direct the upcoming horror film centering on mythical Internet figure Slender Man.

It seems that Slender Man is set for a bit of a pop-culture surge. As HBO’s upcoming documentary Beware The Slender Man prepares for its Us premiere in a few weeks on January 23, a crucial development has occurred on the front of the gestating (and kind of inevitable) horror film adaptation of the meme phenomenon.

According to Deadline, studio Screen Gems has appointed Sylvain White to direct the upcoming Slender Man feature film. For White, it’s a critical and poetic selection, since he made his directorial breakthrough for Screen Gems with the 2007 bellwether Hip-Hop dance drama hit Stomp the Yard.
