In the restaurant scene, when Jason Statham was explaining to Amy Smart what he did, her hiccups were genuine.
In the public sex scene, all the non-actors' reactions to the scene were real.
When the Google Earth satellite views zoom-in they show the real locations where the scenes were actually shot.
Jason Statham did all of his own fight and car stunts.
The word "cunt" was not originally going to be shown. The line was written in the script, but the word's presence on Jason Statham's forehead was a last minute inclusion by editor Brian Berdan.
The film has a number of references to video games, especially the early "Grand Theft Auto" series.
Directors Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor operated both "a" and "b" cameras, where one would get a wide shot and the other would get a closeup shot.
Jason Statham initially had reservations about accepting the role of Chev Chelios mainly due to him not believing himself to be particularly funny. In response to this, directors Brian Taylor and Mark Neveldine told him to simply play it straight and let the dialogue be funny.
Although a non-stop action film, not a single explosion occurs throughout.
There are a number of references to 80's arcade games in the film. In the opening credits there are flashes of arcade boot up sequences and the high score table of Robotron: 2084 (1982) is briefly displayed. Verona's sidekick is seen playing Berzerk (1980) in the car. The humanoid graphic of Berzerk is also displayed on the male toilet door Chev enters.
When Chev shoots the gangsters in the crashed car following the chase scene, he fires his gun in time with an "England" football chant: 1,2-1,2,3-1,2,3,4
  • football supporters would end by shouting "England!". Jason Statham, who plays Chev, is an English actor.


The hooded terrorist in the "Fear, Excitement, Danger" segment is Guillaume DeLouche, the weapons master on the film.
The watch Chev wears is a Tag Heuer Carrera Automatic Chronograph.
The overhead satellite images have the Google Earth logo on them, complete with the 2006 copyright.
The phone Chev is using is a Nokia 8800 Scirocco Edition.
The gun Chev uses in the bar scene is a Springfield XD. The loaded chamber indicator on the top of the gun indicates that there was no round in the chamber (the gun wasn't loaded) and the cocked position indicator indicates that the striker was down and the gun could not be fired even if it was loaded.

Sam Witwer whom makes a cameo in the film as one of Carlito's henchmen in the final shootout would go on to star as Starkiller in the "Star Wars: The Force Unleashed" video games. In the film, Chev admits to Eve that he lied about being a video game programmer and we see the film as if it was a video game after the end credits. Jason Statham had provided the voice of Shrike in the video game "Red Faction II" and the voice of Sergeant Waters in the video game "Call of Duty".

In "Casino Royale", which was released the same year as this film. James Bond (Daniel Craig) is poisoned, when his drink is spiked and nearly dies of heart failure. Jason Statham admitted in a interview that he would love to be James Bond.

The trivia item below may give away important plot points.

Early in the film, Chev states to Kaylo that he's going to get Verona if it's the last thing he does, then asides that "it may actually be the last thing [he does]". He then pulls Verona out of a helicopter at the very end of the movie, making it literally the last thing he does.
