A Note Regarding Spoilers

The following FAQ entries may contain spoilers. Only the biggest ones (if any) will be covered with spoiler tags. Spoiler tags have been used sparingly in order to make the page more readable.

For detailed information about the amounts and types of (a) sex and nudity, (b) violence and gore, (c) profanity, (d) alcohol, drugs, and smoking, and (e) frightening and intense scenes in this movie, consult the IMDb Parents Guide for this movie. The Parents Guide for Crank can be found here.

No. Crank is an action-thriller written by film-makers Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor, both of whom also co-directed the movie. A sequel, Crank: High Voltage was released in 2009.

Does Chev die at the end?

While in real life he would have been almost liquified when he hits the ground. 99% of the stuff that happens to Chev throughout the film would have killed him. At the end when he falls out of the helicopter, bounces off a car, then rolls to a stop infront of the camera, bloodied, not moving with his eyes open; the last second of the film you see him blink and hear his heart beating.

This is telling us his heart is unstoppable and he will be back in Crank 2: High Voltage

So to sum it up, no he doesn't die.

While the theatrical version of "Crank" was rated R by the MPAA, at least in Germany there's another version of the film available. Looking at the differences (which can be found here) one can clearly categorize it as a director's cut. Up to this point, it is not available in the US.
