*** This comment may contain spoilers ***
A truly wonderful, funny, magical and engaging Filipino film to watch! Way, way better than the first Enteng Kabisote film.
The Metro Manila Film Festival is being bombarded with 3 fantasy film entries. This film has the most history of them all.
First off, this has been the fourth movie adaptation of one of the best Filipino fantasy series on TV: Okay Ka, Fairy Ko (You are OK, My Fairy or You are fine with me, my fairy) and this one stands out in almost everything - Cinematography, special effects, story line. The first adaptation movie came out in 1990 entitled Okay ka, Fairy ko the movie. It was followed the succeeding year with Okay ka, Fairy ko 2.
In 2004, the movie Enteng Kabisote 1 came out after 13 years from their last outing (Okay ka, Fairy ko 2) in 1991. All previous films were Blockbusters as this one as well making P120 million in the 2005 box office.
STORY HISTORY:
The movie depicts the life of the "TAGALUPA" (literally means 'from the earth') or earthman named Vicente "Enteng" Kabisote who is married to the beautiful Faye(Kristine Hermosa) who incidentally happens to be a fairy princess, daughter to Ina Magenta (Alice Dixson), the Queen of all Engkantasya. Despite objections and frequent interventions from his Queen of a mother-in-law, Enteng and Faye, chose to live in earthman's world, refrain from the use of magic and make a family. They have an adopted daughter, Aiza and as the years passed, they had Benok, their true son, and prince of Engkantasya.
Alice Dixson, who plays Faye in the TV series now plays, Ina Magenta replacing G Toengi, who played Ina Magenta in Enteng Kabisote 1. G. Teongi replaced the late Charito Solis who was Ina Magenta, the mother to Alice Dixson's Faye in the TV series.
Kristine Hermosa who plays Faye in this new movie and the last one, was a fan of the TV series and has fantasized of playing Faye as a child. Faye remains young, since faeries don't grown old.
The Role of Faye has been played bye 3 actresses so far. Alice Dixson, Tweety de Leon and recently by Kristine Hermosa.
MOVIE SYNOPSIS:
The magical world Engkantasya and the man's world welcomes a new addition to the Kabisote family with Ada, Enteng and Faye's new baby girl - a new princess of Engkantasya.
While both worlds were happy with this new addition, Darkness is once again brooding both in Engkantasya and in man's world.
In the previous film, Satana(Bing Loyzaga), the ruler of Kadiliman (Darkness) lost her powers and was vanquish by Magenta. Reborn through the blood of a traitor, Satana regained her powers and vowed to destroy Enkantasya. This time she has succeeded.
With the fall of Magenta's kingdom, Faye, the only daughter was given the duty to find the 3 missing amulets that could rebuild Engkantasya. Enteng and his family is once again sucked into the magical world and has to travel through Satana's kingdom to save Engkantasya.
With the help of new allies, Alyssa(Marian Rivera), Ada's godmother and daughter of Ina Azul(Tony Rose Gayda), Queen of Engkantasya's Azul Kingdom, and Verdana(Jose Manalo), the battered husband turned into Princess Fiona in ogre mode look-a-like, sent by Ina Verde, Queen of Engkantasya Verde, Enteng and his family has to battle dragons, sea creatures, and sword wielding dark minions to save the fate of Engkantasya.
STUFF I LIKE:
Alyssa's sword fight - first time I have seen such a sword fight, one of the best female sword fight in a Filipino movie. It's brief but sweet.
Nature conservation message - very subtle way of sending a message about the conservation of natural resources, outstanding cinematography..
Mermaids I find the tails really wonderful.
The cameo of Joey de Leon's character: Pangay Pokpok.
This movie is kid friendly.
