Trivia:

The film was originally meant to release on August 12 2006, but was delayed by six months to release on April 14 2007 - an auspicious date, being the Tamil New Year's Day. Unfortunately, the release was delayed further and the film was tentatively scheduled to release on February 15, 2008. Then legal wrangles forced the film to be postponed a further four months.

Goofs:

Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): In the scene where Avatar Singh and Govindarajan are in the lift, Avatar Singh is seen to be leaving first while Govindarajan pretends to talk on his cellphone. If one looks closely, Govindarajan is holding his Nokia 3310 the wrong way - the screen is visible toward the camera. Possibly intended.

Dasavatharam is spectacular What a super human effort! That will be the first reaction of any normal film buff who watches Kamal Haasan's Tamil magnum opus, Dasavathaaram. The film is certain to thrill and entertain the audience for all of its 165 minutes, making them feel that they are watching something unusual and spectacular on screen. The film starts off with an incident that occurs in the 12th century when Shaivite intolerance against Vaishnavites was at its peak. An ardent Vishnu devotee loses his life to save the idol of Lord Ranganatha. Kamal plays his first role of Vishnu devotee Rangarajan in this episode which is marked by excellent technical work and the actor's extraordinary performance.
