Storyline
U.S.-based Bio-technologist, Govind K. Somaiyya, narrates from a stadium a tale of religious conflict in India - even before the appearance of Jesus and Allah. This conflict was between worshipers of Bhagwan Shri Shiv and Bhagwan Shri Vishnu - with devotees of the latter being put to death. Now in post-9/11 era President George W. Bush invests heavily in biological research but things get out of control when a vial containing a deadly chemical is inadvertently dispatched via courier to Tamil Nadu, India. In order to retrieve it, Govind must face heavy odds, including a deadly CIA Agent, Chris Fletcher; a killer named Jasmine; RAW Officer Pranab Kundu, as well as a martial-arts artist from Tokyo. The film was originally meant to release on August 12 2006, but was delayed by six months to release on April 14 2007 - an auspicious date, being the Tamil New Year's Day. Unfortunately, the release was delayed further and the film was tentatively scheduled to release on February 15, 2008. Then legal wrangles forced the film to be postponed a further four months. an instance for chaos theory....the statuette hits ocean beds....beneath the bed develop faults....faults run for kilometers say upto indonesia ....and pressure builds up....for almost 800 years.....at last it unleashes....triggers tsunami....to save lives???? the above 3 lines is my opinion of the plot of dasaavatharam....yours may be different....if this is not art then what is???? the creative genius of kamal haasan has been unleashed to an audience who have witnessed thousand odd duets,thousand odd cheap fights and few good movies as well.music was good and the make up was not upto the standard that kamals earlier films had set.perhaps he felt the pressure of the time this project took.ravi varman deserves mention.asin was irritating at times and of the ten three to four roles was not enjoyed.and like this the film may contain many flaws if not less but kamal stands as tall as kalifulla khan does before these flaws.dasaavatharam may or may not be a commercial success but it is time for the world to stand up and congratulate this artist.
