. . . THE WIZARD OF OZ is universally recognized as the Greatest Film of All Time during THE ART OF IMAGINATION: A TRIBUTE TO OZ. Though I've overheard a few misguided souls bestow this designation upon their home movies (a well-known example of this ilk of myopia is "Mr. Hooper's" selection of TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE), "Pete Jackson" admits here that his magnum opus--RETURN OF THE KING--might have been shut out (or "snubbed") by the Oscars IF it had come out in 1939 and been thrown into competition against OZ. These cinema experts concur that had the analog brain power behind OZ later been converted into the digital realm, it would have produced enough smarts to send people to the Big Dipper. However, just as the most valuable secrets of mummification died out with the Pharaohs, A TRIBUTE TO OZ strongly suggests that OZ's place atop the leaderboard is Permanent: Cinematic Perfection can be achieved only once. Shakespeare may have scored in the 98th percentile with MACBETH, but OZ remains the only mortal product to truly achieve the Platonic Ideal of squaring the circle.
