I saw the movie at the Ostend Filmfestival in September. I liked the movie, although it isn't perfect, but then again, which movie is? The photography is smooth and subtle and has some nice long shots. It fits perfectly to the story. The music is very nice, very charming, it sets the mood, without telling the audience what to feel. The acting is good, especially by Telana Lynum. Joe Arquette is OK, but he sometimes he over acts. The outline is good: a man comes back from Iraq and starts loosing his mind, but the dialogues are sometimes too fluffy and too direct. The dialogues literally tell how a character feel and they sometimes summarize previous scenes, like for instance the scene with the doctor, it could have been cut out of the script, the audience already knows that he sees things that aren't there and that he's losing his mind. If the writer's had worked a bit longer on the script, the movie would have been a bit better. But despite the negative point, it's a movie with a soul and a message. I'm looking forward to see more movies of Carl Colpaert.
