Before the North Dakota oil boom (as witnessed in Jesse MossThe Overnighters), a good century back, there was the another type of boom. Commonly associated with the West, North Dakota was home to a short lived gold rush. Sabyn Mayfield will tap into the reserves of two up-and-comer players for what will be his directorial debut as THR reports that Boyd Holbrook and Rachel Brosnahan will topline Boomtown alongside  Jocelin Donahue and newcomer Tyler Riggs. Holbrook is set to play Jt’s childhood best friend and Brosnahan plays a local bartender in the oil town.

Gist: Co-written by Mayfield and David Newbert, this follows Jt Turner’s (Riggs) journey across the country to Williston, North Dakota, home of the modern day Gold Rush. In an effort to make ends meet, the main character leaves his family behind to pursue a grueling, yet highly coveted, job in a now booming oil industry. »

Shannyn Sossamon: My career didn't just slow down, it 'came to a total stop'

20 August 2015 2:58 PM, PDT | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

Shannyn Sossamon became something of an "It Girl" in the early noughties with roles in films including "A Knight's Tale," "40 Days and 40 Nights," the Bret Easton Ellis adaptation "Rules of Attraction" and "The Order" (her second and final film with the late Heath Ledger, whom she called "a very special spirit" but was otherwise reticent to talk about in a short-form interview), but after giving birth to her son Audio in 2003 she all but disappeared from the spotlight. Since then, Sossamon has popped up in everything from well-received indies ("Wristcutters: A Love Story") to big, star-studded Hollywood com-coms ("The Holiday") to TV series (the cult single-season CBS vampire drama "Moonlight"), though recently her resume is heavy on so-called "genre" work, from the 2008 J-horror remake "One Missed Call" to the 2011 post-apocalyptic thriller "The Day" to this year's buzzy summer series "Wayward Pines" and now "Sinister 2," the sequel to the sleeper »

Shannyn Sossamon Recalls "Reckless" 2000s Days, Reveals Freaky "Sinister 2" Set Accident

19 August 2015 10:30 AM, PDT | TooFab | See recent TooFab news »

When Shannyn Sossamon first hit the scene in the early 2000s, she was one of the Hollywood It Girls. With roles alongside some of the hottest heartthrobs around -- including Heath Ledger, Josh Hartnett and James Van Der Beek -- she quickly made a name for herself in films like "A Knight's Tale," "40 Days and 40 Nights" and "The Rules of Attraction." Now 36 and a mother to two children -- Audio Science, 12, and Clayton, 3 -- those days are a bit blurry to the actress. "I don’t remember anything," she tells toofab's Brian Particelli when asked what it was like to gain notoriety during such a wild time in Hollywood. "I always say that I wasn’t really ready when I started to do movies and so I learned as I’ve been going. It was fun, but I was definitely a little reckless being when I was younger, so I don’t remember much! »
