I guess if one has watched "Alpha Dog" then this film blows! But I haven't seen Alpha Dog, but I've seen a slew of drug movies, and this film is quite decent. As far as "nothing happening", I suppose those who expected Wesley Snipes to break out with the knives and guns were disappointed. "Kush" is a highly realistic account of a pot-dealing culture, and the first hour or so was dedicated to setting the stage and creating interesting tensions between the characters. No way this film is a 2.5! Come on, IMDb viewers! It's at least a 6 or 7. The realistic way it portrayed how upper-end pot deals go down in white neighborhoods earns it at least a 5. The acting was VERY decent; don't listen to those reviewers who only focus on actors to make or break their reviews. But this film does not rate an 8 or higher because, realistic though it was, there was little action, and the Italian coke dealer/investor was a big distraction to the plot, making me think he was going to be part of the climax, but he wasn't. "Kush" (the name given to boutique marijuana) is a decent little Indie flick, in that, unlike most Hollywood films, it successfully fleshes out a realistic world for the viewer to inhabit and grow in, and this is what its low-key prologue is used for, so that when the violence and climax comes, it is that more poignant. 7 points.
