Anna Kendrick’s screen summer has a matrimonial air about it. First out of the gate is Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates, an R-rated affair that’s pitched in the same league as Neighbors, and now we’ve got a look at 2017’s Table 19. Its title isn’t the most inspiring thing about it – it kinda sounds like a drippy rom-com – yet the trailer sets out to prove that this flick’s got a lot going for it.
First of all, Table 19 reunites Kendrick with director Jeffrey Blitz. He hired the actor for her first major breakout role in Rocket Science, so that’s one positive indicator that we’re not headed into stale wedding comedy mode. But wait: there’s more! The script hails from the Duplass brothers and the supporting cast is top notch. And the story itself?

Must be wedding season, as Anna Kendrick has another wedding comedy in the works!
And this comedy has heart.
In Table 19, Kendrick plays a wedding guest who was recently dumped by the best man of the wedding and is forced to sit at the “outcast” table. Also sitting at that table are Craig Robinson, Lisa Kudrow, Stephen Merchant, Tony Revolori and June Squibb. I don’t know about you, but that sounds like the fun table right there!
This movie also has a Breakfast Club-set-at-a-wedding vibe to it, which is pretty awesome!
Watch the trailer below and catch Table 19 when it comes to Cineplex theatres in Jan 2017.

"What the hell are we doing back here?" Fox Searchlight has debuted a fun trailer for the wedding comedy Table 19, from the director of Rocket Science starring Anna Kendrick as a woman who gets seated at the dread Table 19 at a wedding after being dumped by the Best Man. As cheesy as that sounds, the script is by the Duplass Brothers and it's directed by the guy who helped Kendrick first break out by casting her in the indie Rocket Science. The full cast includes Amanda Crew, Stephen Merchant, Lisa Kudrow, Wyatt Russell, Craig Robinson, Tony Revolori and June Squibb. This actually looks like it might be good. Here's the first official trailer (+ poster) for Jeffrey Blitz's Table 19, originally debuted by PopSugar: Ex-maid of honor Eloise - having been relieved of her duties after being unceremoniously dumped by the best man via text- decides to attend »

Anna Kendrick plays a raucous plus-one in this week’s “Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates,” bit it isn’t her only marriage-themed comedy in the works. The actress also headlines next year’s “Table 19,” directed by Jeffrey Blitz from a script by Mark and Jay Duplass, which looks considerably more restrained but no less funny.
Kendrick stars as the recently dumped former ex-girlfriend of the groom-to-be’s husband; her stock in the family now lessened, she’s relegated to “the table that could disappear in the middle of the wedding and no one would even notice.” Among the other misfits exiled to table 19 are Stephen Merchant, Lisa Kudrow, Craig Robinson, Tony Revolori and June Squibb, all of whom commiserate over their shared status as outcasts.

After breaking out with the documentary Spellbound in 2002, director Jeffrey Blitz followed it up with the overlooked Rocket Science. A decade later he’s now reteamed with Anna Kendrick for the Jay Duplass and Mark Duplass-scripted comedy Table 19. Although it won’t get released until early 2017, Fox Searchlight has now debuted the first trailer, timed with Kendrick’s latest comedy Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates.
Also a wedding-centered feature, the film finds Kendrick’s character getting dumped by the bride’s brother before the event, so she must sit at a table of randos. Also starring Amanda Crew, Stephen Merchant, Lisa Kudrow, Wyatt Russell, Craig Robinson, Tony Revolori and June Squibb, it’s got quite the varied cast and we’re looking forward to checking it out next January.
See the trailer below thanks to PopSugar.
Table 19 opens on January 20, 2017.
