Exclusive: Defiant Pictures and 2020 Entertainment have joined together in fiscal union to back The Divorce Party, an original comedy feature written by actors Lane Garrison (Camp X-Ray, Bonnie & Clyde) and Mark Famiglietti (Premonition, The Greens Are Gone). Story tracks a newly dumped divorcee who hires his sexy former wedding planner to throw a “divorce party” celebrating his new singledom. Retreat Director Set to Prove that Science Fiction Is Timeless

Back in 2010, Bill Kelly sold his sci-fi script Timeless, which at one point had Philip Noyce attached to direct. Four years later, the project is finally set to find its way in front of cameras, and a new director has been named. Read on!

Per Deadline, UK director Carl Tibbetts is now in the director's chair, after recently making his feature debut with 2011's Retreat.

The story tracks a twenty-something surfer who sets out to build a time-travel machine after his wife dies in an accident. He taps a young Harvard physicist to help make the impossible a reality.

New financier Nicolas Veinberg and Defiant Pictures have come aboard, and Sunil Perkash (Salt, Enchanted, Premonition) will produce alongside Veinberg and Lucas Jarach. Relativity Media, which made the initial spec deal, is circling for domestic distribution.

Shooting is set to begin next spring in Gran Canaria, Spain, with casting currently under way. »

Julian McMahon Signs With Paradigm

Paradigm has inked Julian McMahon. The Australian-born actor received a Golden Globe nom for his role as playboy Christian Troy on long-running FX drama series Nip/Tuck. On the film side, McMahon appears in the the upcoming drama You’re Not You, opposite Hilary Swank, Emmy Rossum, Josh Duhamel, and Marcia Gay Harden. His other feature credits include Faces In The Crowd, Paranoia, and Fire With Fire. McMahon also played super villain Dr. Victor von Doom in the Fantastic Four franchise, and appeared in Premonition opposite Sandra Bullock. McMahon continues to be repped by managers David Schiff & Kristin Konig at The Schiff Company, Monique Moss at Integrated PR, and attorney Jacob A.
