Storyline

Orel Puppington is an optimistic, well-intentioned, and devoutly religious 11-year-old whose Christian devotion, enthusiastic church attendance, and general naiveté leads him to grossly misinterpret Bible lessons, often with morbid and ghastly consequences. In doing so, he unintentionally exposes the hypocrisy and duplicity of his family (particularly his father Clay), the members of his community, and ultimately, organized religion itself. Set in the fictional American state of Statesoda, which is located in the middle of the lower 48 states, "Moral Orel" has a stop-motion animation style similar to "Davey & Goliath", and appears to parody the religious undertones of the latter show. However, creator Dino Stamatopoulos intended for the show to be more of a parody of whole 1950's sitcoms such as "Leave It To Beaver" and "Father Knows Best". Written by D_Burke

Trivia

Any chance of Dino extending the show beyond its unintended three seasons were destroyed when Adult Swim executives saw an early draft of the episode "Alone", which is the most dark and disturbing episode of the series, upon which the show was promptly cancelled and the season was cut in half from 20 episodes to 13. This is ironic considering the fact that the executives actually wanted the show to get darker after the two part Season Two finale, "Nature". See more »

excellent parody
29 January 2006 | by (Schenectady, NY) – See all my reviews

This is a great parody of the old show from the 60's or 70's called "Davey and Goliath" It's a show poking fun at far right wing christians so if you are a born again Christian you will not want to watch this. It is done in what looks like claymation. Orel is a little boy who lives with his family, mom, dad and little brother. They live in the town of Moralton in a NEW state wedged between Kansas and Missouri called "Statesota". This is really short like most Adult Swim programs. It is about 12 minutes long. There is some claymation blood and gore so if that bothers you you might want to skip this. This cartoon is really meant for left wingers like me or maybe atheists or perhaps people WITH A SENSE OF HUMOR. I'm sure there will be complaints and they will come mostly from people who never watched it but just heard about it. Have fun, hope it goes on for a long successful season or more.
