"It’s every actor who is ruggedly handsome, which is to say every movie star," says Shawn Levy on fan casting for Nathan Drake...
Uncharted movie director
Now that the Uncharted movie has its core crew nailed down, word on the film's direction is far more readily available than it was a few weeks ago. For example, the videogame adaptation's director, Shawn Levy of Stranger Things fame, has been chatting to Collider's Steven Weintraub extensively about the project.
Mr Levy touched upon why he boarded the movie ("I’ve been interested in this project for years. I’ve played and loved every iteration of the game"), as well as the quest to steer away from the obvious touchstones ("It’s not Indiana Jones, it’s not National Treasure; it’s very specific, it’s all kind of anchored in Nathan’s tone") and the film's »
I've always thought of Joe Carnahan as an under-appreciated talent. Films like Narc and The Grey have shown that the man knows how to write and direct tense, hard-hitting thrills. Even The A-Team I felt was unfairly beaten up by critics- which contributed to its unfortunate box office performance. To me, A-Team was unapologetically over the top, and not meant to be taken particularly seriously. It was a testosterone-fueled popcorn action extravaganza that, for some reason, critics expected to be something more. To borrow an analogy I used earlier this year, it was a slurpee.
Anyway, I think Carnahan may have found just the right vehicle for his skill set. It'll allow him to create the kind of macho action spectacle he likes to make, and give him access to characters and actors that have enough chemistry and star power to make the material fly. Not to mention, it's a »

In an exclusive report by Variety, Carnahan talks about his excitement for joining the project and dispels rumors of directing the film.
“In a perfect world I would love to do both, but right now, I’m only on board to write the script,”
“Archaeology today is in itself an antiquity, but that world has always fascinated me. Especially when you go to a museum today and wonder »

The rise of Clint Mansell's career has been impressive to watch. Breaking out by tuning up the dread in Darren Aronofsky's "Requiem For A Dream," in addition to becoming the director's go-to composer, the artist has logged impressive credits with Park Chan-Wook ("Stoker"), Duncan Jones ("Moon"), Joe Carnahan ("Smokin' Aces"), and more, and this year sees him add another auteur to his belt: Ben Wheatley. Mansell has penned the score for the director's upcoming "High-Rise." Read More: Tiff Review: Ben Wheatley's 'High-Rise' Starring Tom Hiddleston, Sienna Miller, Luke Evans & Elisabeth Moss Based on J.G. Ballard's book, the starry movie — featuring —Tom Hiddleston, Jeremy Irons, Sienna Miller, Luke Evans, Elisabeth Moss, James Purefoy, Peter Ferdinando and Keeley Hawes — tells a wildly surreal tale of a luxury apartment complex that is soon overcome by disorder and madness. Mansell's score slides right in »

Bad Boys 3 is happening in a big way, and it promises to take the action over the top. While he hasn't been officially confirmed to direct yet by Sony Pictures, action maestro Joe Carnahan is already in the previsualization stage for the movie, and is now teasing a freeway chase involving a motorcycle on his official Twitter page. This may be all the confirmation we need that the man behind such action favorites as Smokin' Aces, The Grey and the big screen A-Team adaptation is joining forces with returning stars Martin Lawrence and Will Smith. Though, he won't reveal the identity of the man on the motorcycle, only saying this.
"...who is this man? ...and how bad is he?"
