Decent documentary.

'Revelation' Exhumed is a 45 minute long documentary found on the British special edition DVD of the Doctor Who story Revelation of the Daleks (1985) & basically interviews some of the cast & crew involved in the making of it.

The reason I'm only giving this a 6 out of 10 is because the entire first 30 minutes of it is nothing more than the cast explaining their character's, I'm sorry but I find William Gaunt sitting there saying his character was a good guy just totally pointless as I already know that because I've seen the damned program! I'm sorry but I just found this 30 odd minutes rather tedious as these people seem to think we, the audience that is, are too stupid to know Davros is a baddie & the like. Dull. Both Colin Baker who played the Doctor in Revelation of the Daleks & Nicola Bryant who played Peri his companion are conspicuous by their absence.

Things pick up after the 30 minute mark as the documentary then goes into the actual production of the story & some behind the scenes stories, this part of the documentary is much better than what proceeds it unfortunately it only lasts for about 10 minutes & then the documentary ends. Among the fact offered is that they couldn't afford to make Oscini a costume so had to hire it, they didn't expect the snow that fell & had to change locations because of it & everyone sort of agrees the special effects are terrible. There are some behind the scenes footage & three short deleted scenes which never made the final broadcast version although they are the same ones present on the same DVD under 'Deleted Scenes'.

'Revelation' Exhumed is an OK insight into the making of Revelation of the Daleks although it spends too much time on stuff anyone who has seen the story will already know, it's nice to have & it's good value as a free extra on a DVD but one thought it was a bit of a wasted opportunity. Worth a watch but not particularly ground breaking.
