Mother and Child
Opens: 2010
Cast: Naomi Watts, Annette Bening, Samuel L. Jackson, Kerry Washington
Director: Rodrigo Garcia
Summary: A tale of a mother and daughter, separated at birth, who struggle with the damage done by the most important person missing in their lives while a young African-Americn woman deals with an unwanted pregnancy and the adoption process.
Analysis: Scoring rave reviews in Toronto, the $7 million latest effort of Rodrigo Garcia ("Nine Lives," "Things You Can Tell Just By Looking At Her") once again shows off his skill at weaving multiple narratives together in clever and unexpected ways. At its heart it's an emotional family drama, but Garcia excels with his female characters which makes the involvement of Naomi Watts, Kerry Washington and especially Annette Benning thrilling.
The few criticisms levelled at the film were toward some pacing and credibility issues in the last act, but otherwise praised it for not

New Prince of Persia: Sands of Time Featurette

One of the major releases of summer 2010 is Disney’s adaptation of the popular video game, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. The action-adventure film stars Jake Gyllenhaal as the title character and is produced (in his trademark style) by Jerry Bruckheimer.
The Prince of Persia trailer released in November to a slightly mixed reaction here at Screen Rant and part of that is due to the history of the genre lacking in quality and not staying true to the key elements of the games.
In addition to the teaser, we’ve seen some behind-the-scenes footage including the first Prince of Persia featurette which focused on the character of Dastan (Gyllenhaal), his background and his journey within the film. This second video we have below focuses on The Sands of Time itself in the form of the magical dagger that represents the plot device of the video game and this movie.

Lego Prince of Persia?

Lego bricks are seemingly becoming more well-known as Lego digital bricks nowadays with the brand’s jump into the video game industry a few years back. We’ve already seen Lego Star Wars, Lego Batman, Lego Indiana Jones and there’s even a Lego Rock Band – not even based on a movie but on another game as simply a Lego-styled skin.
As we know, Ubisoft makes the Prince of Persia video games and Disney’s film adaptation of The Sands of Time is coming out in summer, 2011 and that of course means, Lego toys will accompany it. But does it mean we can expect a Lego Prince of Persia game too?
Lego has become heavily dependent on other non-original licences in recent years and if you walk into the nearest toy store, a hefty portion of what you will see will be based on other properties and not original Lego designs.

New Prince of Persia Featurette Highlights the Sands of Time

Disney's Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, based on the UbiSoft reinvention of Jordan Mechner's classic video game, doesn't hit until May 28 2010. But Disney is apparently not so confident that the video game basis will translate to a large audience, so the studio has been pumping out images and footage since the first trailer debut last month. There's a new featurette out now which explains the movie's subtitle and gives some context for some of the trailer's swirling, sandy shots. Check it out below.
This clip quickly explains that the Sands of Time are contained within a dagger, which becomes the film's primary plot motivation. The sands control time, which in the games was a neat little trick that allowed players to rewind a short span of time, usually to counter a fatal mistake that they made. It's the sort of gameplay trick that players happily accept, because

Our 20 Most Anticipated Movies Of 2010

As we come to the end of 2009, it’s time to look forward and put together our list of our most anticipated movies of 2010.
Last year could have been worse – 5 of our 10 most anticipated movies of 2009 turned out to live up to our expectations (including Watchmen, Up, and Star Trek), while the other five ranged from mediocre (Public Enemies) to downright disappointing (Terminator Salvation, Wolverine, Transformers 2). Of course “most anticipated” does not necessarily mean “movies we think are going to be awesome” – it’s “movies we hope are going to be awesome.”
This year the task was made a lot easier thanks to our senior editor Kofi Outlaw putting together Screen Rant’s 2010 movie preview, giving us a one-stop list from which to gather the biggies. While last year was a group effort, this year I’ve decided to pull rank and come up with the list myself, with

'Prince of Persia' Featurette: 'The Sands of Time'

Jerry Bruckheimer's latest major push will be or is already Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. It'll be out on Memorial Day weekend, but once upon a time it was supposed to be released in June of this year, the week before Transformers, in fact. The upcoming Tooth Fairy was also a June 19th film at one time, if you can believe it.
The extra time Bruckheimer and Disney gave Persia allows for things like this, the second in what promises to be a long line of featurettes related to the video game adaptation. There doesn't seem to be much rhyme or reason to them so far, like Watchmen's once-a-month video journals, but it is keeping the name out there a little bit before the studio really starts pushing it, which should be sometime between Alice in Wonderland and the summer kick-off.
The latest featurette explains, through Bruckheimer,

‘Prince of Persia’ Legos Reveal an Ostrich Race

2010 is going to be a huge year for Disney. The Mouse House may have made headlines in 2009 by acquiring Marvel and returning to 2D animation, but the studio is poised to have people talking in ‘10. Two live action adaptations of their own classics (The Sorceror’s Apprentice and Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland) and two anticipated sequels (Toy Story 3 and Tron Legacy) should be enough.
However, Disney has been sneaking plugs for their big summer blockbuster Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time into conversations. People are curious about a shirtless Jake Gyllenhaal and what Pirates producer Jerry Bruckheimer has done with him.
That was a long way to go to get to Legos, but at least there’s a point here somewhere. Lego fan site Brickset has five new Persia play sets featuring key scenes from the film, which means you can now collect Lego camels and figures with turbans.

The Last Airbender
Opens: July 2nd 2010
Cast: Noah Ringer, Nicola Peltz, Jackson Rathbone, Dev Patel
Director: M. Night Shyamalan
Summary: A live-action film based on the Nickelodeon animated TV series. In a fantastic world where civilisation exists as four great empires, a reluctant young child sets out on a perilous journey to restore balance to a world torn apart by war.
Analysis: Its been quite the decade for M. Night Shyamalan who started it as a household name with labels of a moodern-day Hitchcock thanks to the likes of "The Sixth Sense" and "Signs". Today he's considered more of a one-trick pony and in some cases a punchline due to rampant stories of egomania run wild and a series of much derided onscreen flops like "Lady in the Water" and "The Happening".
Thus 'Airbender' marks a potential return to form for the helmer. An adaptation of the hit cartoon series

"Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time" is set to be released on Memorial Day 2010.

Second Prince Of Persia Featurette: Behold The Power Of The Dagger

Last week Yahoo! Movies gave us a brief introduction to Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time followed by an intense looks at all of the behind-the-scenes action, which, of course, features an unbelievably ripped Jake Gyllenhaal. Walt Disney Pictures (via Coming Soon) has just released a second featurette that still has some eye candy (Gyllenhaal for the ladies, battles for the men), but pays more attention to explaining some of the details of the plot, particularly the legendary dagger.
The Prince of Persia trailer didn.t thrill me. It wasn.t terrible, but I figured Clash of the Titans will be enough epic adventure for me. But, the more I see from Prince of Persia and the more I learn about what.s actually going on, the better it looks. Who knows? By May 28th, 2010 I might actually have seen and enjoyed two fantasy battle-heavy films. I hope that

Disney’s big May tentpole, Prince of Persia: Sands of Time has been slowly but surely building up its marketing campaign since this past year’s Comic-Con, and now the Mouse House has released a new online featurette.
We’ve had the first official trailer available for some time now, but buzz for the film has remained muted at best. We could soon be experiencing a Kingdom of Heaven-esque box office disappointment from this film, dropping as it does at the beginning of the summer box office season. It’s an understatement to say that Gyllenhaal appears miscast in the film, but the film itself doesn’t seem particularly appetizing either. With CGI spectacles approaching such as Clash of the Titans and Iron Man 2, it’s easy to see how Prince of Persia: Sands of Time could be lost in the hubbub.
However, there are a handful of bright spots.

While everyone has been (rightly) drooling over Disney's Tron: Legacy and Alice In Wonderland, let's not forget that in 2010 the Mouse House will also be releasing Prince Of Persia: The Sands Of Time. In this new behind-the-scenes featurette on the film, producer Jerry Bruckheimer, star Jake Gyllenhaal and director Mike Newell all attempt to explain exactly what the Sands of Time are and what it does, etc. As Jake (as Dastan) notes, "Releasing the sand, sands back time!" Duh.

Alright guys, it's time to get "Carried" away with the very first trailer for Sex and the City 2! After the first movie made $415 million worldwide, they certainly didn't waste any time churning out a sequel. Something tells me this one won't make quite as much money, but then again, what do I know? It's another excuse for a girls night out across the world, and that's probably all they need.
In the meantime, men will continue to scoff at how terrible it is, and claim superiority of Iron Man 2 or whatever testosterone-driven counterpart they've most recently seen. Hey, maybe if women had more movies that appealed to them, Sex and the City wouldn't be as popular as it is. Sex and the City 2 hits theatres on May 28th, which means it's going head to head with Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. Check out the trailer after the jump.
