The security camera footage of Jason Statham at the gas station in the finale shows that the date is January 28, 2011. This was also the theatrical release date of the film.
The car Arthur is working on is a Series 1 Jaguar E-Type, manufactured between 1961 and 1968.
The illegal arms dealer's mugshot is simply the actor's face photoshopped onto David Bowie's mugshot from a drug-related arrest in Rochester NY.
The "Mechanic Needed" photo of Harry that Bishop sees on his laptop is a publicity still of Donald Sutherland at the 2009 Palm Springs Film Festival Awards Gala. Another still from this event is the primary photo of Sutherland's IMDb page.
This is a remake of a Charles Bronson film from the early seventies, The Mechanic (1972).

The trivia items below may give away important plot points.

It was originally intended that Bishop (Jason Statham) would die by way of an explosion at the gas station but this ending was scrapped due to Simon West fearing audiences would not want to see both leads die at the end of the film.
Jason Statham and Donald Sutherland played together in another remake, "The Italian Job". As in that movie, Donald's character was betrayed by someone he trusted.
