Morning Meme: John Barrowman Needs a Manny, Richard Chamberlain Advises Actors To Stay Closeted, and Ricky Martin "Shine"s

24 December 2010 5:39 AM, PST | The Backlot | See recent The Backlot news »

This interview with John Barrowman is just a sea of quick quotes worth reading, from his feelings on critics, the fact that he’s expecting seven more years of Torchwood and living six months a year in Hollywood, to his wealth and the fact that he’s still trying to convince Scott to adopt. Well worth the read.

I’ve been curious about Trey Parker and Matt Stone’s Broadway production of The Book of Mormon. Vogue calls it “hands down, the filthiest, most offensive, and—surprise—sweetest thing you’ll see on Broadway this year, and quite possibly the funniest musical ever.”

I really don’t know what to say about the Skinimax-style video for Enrique Inglesias’ “Tonight.” Boobs, lesbian sex, bondage, but somehow almost no beefcake. The video is definitely Nsfw.

Good news about the upcoming Muppet movie: Michael Cera is not playing Walter, the new Muppet. Lady Gaga »

New Smurfs Photo Online

We’ve seen them moving around in the teaser, and peeking over the edge of the frame in their first, Times Square-set photo, but this latest image of the eponymous creatures from The Smurfs shows that they’ll also be spending some time in Central Park. Oh, and we also get a proper look at more of the Smurfy heroes. The plot for the movie sees bad guy wizard Gargamel (Hank Azaria) tracking down the Smurf village, forcing the inhabitants to flee through a magical portal, which just so happens to lead to our world. There, they must enlist the help of a bloke named Johan (Neil Patrick Harris) to get back to their own universe even as Gargamel follows them through with the intention of finishing what he started…While the movie seems clearly pitched towards a younger generation (with perhaps a few nostalgic nods to those who remember »

'The Smurfs' Land In Central Park In New Photo

22 December 2010 2:37 PM, PST | MTV Movies Blog | See recent MTV Movies Blog news »

"The Smurfs" might not be invading New York City until August 2011, but that doesn't mean that they won't remind us that they're coming. In a new image from the upcoming film, Papa Smurf, Brainy Smurf, Smurfette, Grouchy Smurf, Gutsy Smurf and Panicky Smurf just landed in Central Park on a nice sunny Manhattan day. At least we know they'll make some progress around the city since we first saw them in Times Square.

The film follows the little blue beings after baddie Gargamel (Hank Azaria) finds Smurf village, and they need to flee into a magical portal to escape his wrath -- a development that is so not Smurfy! They end up smack in the middle of Central Park and then have to find their way back home. Along the way they team up with a human named Johan (Neil Patrick Harris), but trouble follows their adventure as Gargamel follows »

In honor of the upcoming holidays, Sony decided to send around a new image from The Smurfs. Shit! That's exactly what I wanted! They read my mind. So few people can read my mind. Meme: Eric Braeden Is Out Of Touch, Wisdom From "Rugrats," and "Misfits" Pings My Radar

Conservative British MP Nigel Evans has come out after pressure from a gay liberal politician and a chat with a fabulous soap star from Coronation Street. Evans voted against equalizing the age of consent and fought to leave the horrid Section 28 as law. I guess the rule about conservative anti-gay politicians remains true on either side of the ocean.

Matt Dillon is set to play Claire’s ex-boyfriend on Modern Family. After how poorly Phil handled his ex-girlfriend when she turned up, I’m hoping  for more of the same. And that there’s an underwear scene for Dillon.

Shonda Rhimes has had a non-medical series picked up to pilot. This one is about public relations and crisis management. I’m willing to bet that we get at least one plot with a famous person facing being forcefully outed, but not a single regularly recurring character who’s gay.

'The Smurfs' poster: Smurfs take Manhattan

17 December 2010 11:38 AM, PST | EW - Inside Movies | See recent EW.com - Inside Movies news »

Look around you: Little blue people are roaming the streets on Manhattan (or are those just frozen tourists? December has been brutal). Check out the new poster for next summer’s The Smurfs, a CGI meets live action affair starring Neil Patrick Harris, Glee’s Jayma Mays, Hank Azaria, and more. What could they be looking at? And is this tiny-creatures-looking-out-at-the-majestic-big-world scene more of a “Somewhere Out There” or “Put On Your Sunday Clothes” moment?

The Smurfs in 3D hits theaters August 3.

New Smurfs Poster Takes Over The Top Of The Rock

With Yogi Bear out in theaters today, it's time to look forward to the next CGI/live-action hybrid adaptation of something from your childhood that you never asked for: The Smurfs. The upcoming movie boasts a little more starpower than Yogi Bear, with Neil Patrick Harris, Tim Gunn and Sofia Vergara showing up in human roles and Hank Azaria as the villainous Gargamel, but come on. it's still the Smurfs movie you're going to be making fun of next summer. And just in case Yogi Bear was distracting you from the imminent Smurfs apocalypse, there's a new poster for the movie now at Imp Awards. There's the goofy tagline you expect, the New York City skyline to let you know what's happening. and that's pretty much it. No need for cleverness or originality here, so we're just moving on.
