The 2017 Emmy nominations hinted at some spectacular actors and shows taking home important awards, and now a few of them have already won big. Alexis Bledel had an exciting win for The Handmaid's Tale, and American Horror Story: Roanoke's superb makeup effects were also acknowledged at the Creative Arts Emmys a few days before the big event. At the Emmys on Sunday night, actors like John Lithgow, Kate McKinnon, Laura Dern, and more snagged trophies for their incredible talents. In fact, the night included a number of historic wins, like Donald Glover's win for outstanding directing in a comedy series (he's the first black person to do so) and Lena Waithe's win for outstanding writing for a comedy series (she's the first black woman to take home the award). In an effort to boost viewership, the 13th season of So You Think You Can Dance shook up its format and featured dancers between the ages of eight and 13. Still, the Fox dance competition dropped even further in the ratings. This season, it is returning to basics with dancers ages 18-30. They've also brought back Mary Murphy and added Vanessa Hudgens, who will judge the competition along with co-creator Nigel Lythgoe. Will this do the trick? Cancelled or renewed for season 15? “Dancing with the Stars” opened its 25th season on Monday down in both key ratings measures from last fall’s premiere, but the ABC competition series still topped the night.
According to Nielsen data, the two-hour premiere averaged a 1.7 rating in adults 18-49 and 10.8 million viewers. Compared to the Season 23 premiere (2.1, 12.2 million), that is a drop of approximately 19% in the key demo and 11% in total viewers.
On NBC, “American Ninja Warrior” (1.5, 5.9 million) was even, while “Midnight Texas” (0.8, 2.8 million) was up in both measures.
For Fox, back-to-back episodes of “So You Think You Can Dance” at 8 p.m. (0.6, 2.3 million) and 9 p.m. (0.6, 2.1 million) were both even.
CBS and The CW aired only repeats.
ABC won the night with a 1.4 and 9 million total viewers. NBC was second with a 1.3 and 4.9 million. CBS »

Pending adjustment due to NFL preemption, ABC’s Dancing With the Stars returned on Monday night to 10.8 million total viewers and a 1.7 demo rating, down 11 and 19 percent from its previous two openers to mark all-time premiere lows.
Leading out of that, To Tell the Truth (5.2 mil/0.9) hit summertime highs with its season finale.

Only seven days remain until the Fox competition series crowns its newest champion, and at least one All-Star was feeling very sentimental during the performance finale. Some well-known names from screens both big and small are joining forces to reboot the 1994 action-comedy movie True Lies.
James Cameron, who directed and produced the film, is teaming up with über director McG and Arrow co-creator Marc Guggenheim, for a one-hour pilot based on the movie, our sister site Deadline reports. Guggenheim will write the script, with McG on board to direct.
The original movie starred Arnold Schwarzenegger as Agent Harry Tasker, a family man — and a spy. True Lies also starred Jamie Lee Curtis (as Harry’s wife Helen), Tom Arnold, Bill Paxton and Tia Carrere.
