Storyline

The Web of Shadows concerns the return of the heroic Toa to Metru Nui. There, they find an old enemy has overtaken the great city with the help of Visorak--robotic spiders that can quickly encase anything or anybody in near-indestructible webs. The Toa undergo a bizarre metamorphosis while sealed within strange cocoons, and emerge as clunky-looking machines made up of mismatched parts. Though horrified, they find that they also possess some new powers, which prove essential for their subsequent journey to restore Metru Nui--and themselves. This delightful Bionicle installment is probably easily accessible for any viewer unfamiliar with the series to date. Written by Anthony Pereyra {hypersonic91@yahoo.com}

Trivia

An earlier version of the script describes a humorous scene that was cut from the movie. In this scene, Matau tries to build a nest, showcasing his animal side taking over. This sequence was included in the movie novel. See more »

Goofs

When Sidorak comes to look at the Toa who have been captured in cocoons, there is one shot that looks out of place, as if it hadn't been animated properly. Here, the webs that the spiders walk on are simply suspended in the air and don't attach to anything, and the spiders themselves are also floating in the air, one of them even upside down. The spider in the middle of the shot in turn appears to be deformed. See more »

Quotes

Vakama: [growls and hisses]

Crazy Credits

As the credits roll, spiderwebs run along the edges of the screen, with Visorak spiders sitting on them, some snapping at the titles. At one point, you can see two Visorak fighting each other, one of them eventually showing the other off the webbing into the space below. It claps its pincers victoriously. See more »

Here it is, another fabulous movie of the Bionicle Series. The animation is fantastic, the characters admirable in different ways - a pleasure to watch again and again! The one thing I love about this movie, and all the Bionicle movies, is that they always come out with a cool story line, never repeated with the other movies. It's always original.

I love how it stays true to the books, and how it always stays close to the 'good over evil' back-bone story line. It's great for kids, but I'm a teenager and I love all the Bionicle movies! It's suitable for all ages, so why not just see it - it won't let you down.
