checking the clock (I said "THE CLOCK")
indy-395 July 2006
When I read the synopsis for this short film I thought to myself " Women wake up to find they have grown a penis? This has got to be funny!" Wrong! Creative? Wrong! How about boring? Bingo!!!! I normally wouldn't waste my time writing on a short film (12 minutes) but I normally don't find myself checking the clock multiple times during a short film either. I'm willing to retract this review if I find out that either 1) the film was a middle or high school project or 2) there is a new movement afoot , a kind of "Punk film" in which the acting, directing, writing, editing is so bad it's good. Almost so bad as to make it worth watching...almost. (6.6 out of ten? Who voted the cast and crew?)

a comedy, about five lesbians with a twist.

Warning: Spoilers
I went to the London Lesbian and gay film festival this Saturday, to see Hung. I have to say it's really funny. if you haven't had the chance to see Guin Turner's other short Hummer, than I recommend that you see this one. Ruby (Guin) has a kind of new age /rock chick look going on, with streaks of colour in her hair and a tattoo of a star, with heavier make-up than usual. The whole cast do really well, I especially liked Deak's character, there is a bit where she is sitting on a bench trying to chat up this girl, and she is just clearly just loving every moment . Guin's character, has some really funny scenarios in a hard wear store. I won tell you everything, as I don't want to spoil it for you if you haven't seen it yet. But if you get the chance to see it, I would really recommend you go along. Debbie

"Hung" Is A Lot of Fun!
zardoz-1329 May 2008
Warning: Spoilers
"Hung" is the kind of lesbian short, clocking in at 12 minutes, that doesn't have to stoop to being horribly explicit to make its point. This imaginative, amusing, sweet little 'what if' comedy about a group of alternative lifestyle girls who each take a secret potion and awaken the following day endowed with a member of their own is wickedly funny. Not all the girls are overjoyed with the addition of a penis. Complications arise for them, but everything works out in the end. Indeed, "Hung" contains no nudity, which may upset some audiences that have no tolerance for subtlety. In this instance, however, less turns out to be more. A wide range of diverse characters populate this short and the film doesn't run its conceit into the ground. Writer & director Guinevere Turner, whose credits include "American Psycho," an "L-Word" episode, and "Blood Rayne," has done an outstanding job and her cast is perfect for the task at hand. You don't have to be either a lesbian or a homosexual to enjoy this witty bit of fluff. Indeed, if you are straight and you're analyzing alternative life style films, this is a great place to start. Nevertheless, even as well-done as "Hung" is without a trace of offensive nudity, hardliners that are stalwart about their straight life style orientation may still object to the message.
