Arnold Schwarzenegger Quits ‘Celebrity Apprentice’: Will the Show, and Donald Trump, Be Submitted for an Emmy?

3 March 2017 12:38 PM, PST | Indiewire | See recent Indiewire news »

As Arnold Schwarzenegger publicly disavows “The New Celebrity Apprentice,” it’s probably even more unlikely that Donald Trump will earn another Emmy nomination this year – and, even less likely, the thing he has really coveted for years: An Emmy win.

NBC leaves it up to the production company whether to submit for Emmy consideration, and MGM, which now produces “Celebrity Apprentice” (having acquired Mark Burnett Productions a few years ago), has not yet determined whether it will enter the show for Emmy consideration.

If it does, then MGM is contractually obligated to submit Trump’s name as an executive producer (even though his input on this season was minimal) alongside Burnett and others. (NBC, coincidentally, has avoided naming Trump or the show’s other executive producers in its press materials for the show.)

The Apprentice” (including Trump) was nominated for an Outstanding Reality-Competition Program Emmy in 2004 and 2005, but never again. »

Major Oscar Contenders ‘La La Land,’ ‘Arrival,’ ‘Moonlight’ & More Being Pirated

17 January 2017 7:36 AM, PST | The Playlist | See recent The Playlist news »

The industry likes to paint movie pirates as guys in trenchcoats smuggling camcorders into multiplexes or as clandestine hackers taking down the industry with each 1 and 0 they plug into the matrix. And while it’s certainly true that piracy remains a problem, it’s not just coming from those outside the machinery of Hollywood.

The Independent reveals that Oscar season contenders like “La La Land,” “Arrival” and “Moonlight” are all being openly pirated on certain corners of the internet, with the source for high quality rips coming from For Your Consideration screeners.

Ryan Reynolds Really Wants That Oscar for ‘Deadpool’

14 January 2017 7:40 AM, PST | Entertainment Tonight | See recent Entertainment Tonight news »

So you’re saying there’s a chance.

After the R-rated comedy Deadpool received two Golden Globe nominations, Ryan Reynolds is now throwing the film’s name into the hat for Best Picture at this year’s Academy Awards.

The 40-year-old actor kicked off the Oscar season with a hilarious “For Your Consideration” video posted to his Twitter account on Thursday. The video gives fans an inside look at just how much work went into the film, but with the same sarcastic humor that made Deadpool such a hit in the first place.

Many casual viewers who tuned into the Golden Globes last weekend were quite surprised to learn that the superhero blockbuster Deadpool was actually up for two awards, Ryan Reynolds for Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy and Best Picture Musical or Comedy. While the Merc With the Mouth lost both awards to La La Land, it has also picked up a number of other awards season nominations along the way. With the Oscar nominations coming on January 24, Ryan Reynolds sent out a new video to try and boost the superhero movie's awards season chances, in quite the hilarious and subversive fashion.

Ryan Reynolds debuted the new video on Twitter last night, which pokes fun at the traditional "For your consideration" video that normally lists all of the accolades showered upon a film. With “La La Land” pretty much set to sweep the Oscars next month, it already promises to be a rather dull ceremony. And while many will be straight-up horrified if “Deadpool” is nominated in any of the major categories (and it has been building momentum in recent weeks thanks to honors from the WGA, PGA, and DGA), bringing the movie into the fold of prestige pictures might at least enliven the evening a bit.

20th Century Fox’s R-rated superhero movie Deadpool proved to be a huge hit with fans and critics alike, and rather surprisingly, it’s went on to receive plenty of love during the awards season, receiving nominations from the Golden Globes, Directors Guild of America and more.

It does of course remain to be seen whether the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will bestow any Oscar nominations on the film, but if an effort to lobby the voters Ryan Reynolds has shared a ‘For Your Consideration’ promo recounting all of the movie’s rather hilarious “achievements”. Ryan Reynolds tweeted a short "For Your Consideration" video for Deadpool on Thursday evening, following the announcement of nominations for the film from the WGA, PGA and DGA in recent weeks.

The anti-superhero film was a massive commercial success in theaters, helped in large part by its memorable marketing campaign, which included faux romantic-comedy-themed billboards and a Twitter account for the film that only followed Hello Kitty.

The film has been racking up nominations, which has shocked many, including a best comedy or musical nomination from the Golden Globes last weekend, as well as »
