The Wonderful World of Dtv – The films of Steven C. Miller

With the recent release of Steven C. Millers Marauders (2016) on V.O.D and limited cinema release, I noted that there was a definite rise in quality from the usual Dtv fare. From his first film, Miller has consistently been getting better as a director, and considering the quality of his films in regards to their budgets, it is only a matter of time before he is directing bigger budget features. In regards to this I thought it would be good to look over his film career to date, so when he does become even more successful, we can remember where he started. Automaton Transfusion – 2006 This was Miller first feature length film. A horror film concerning the United States Army re-opening a project that...

First images of Charisma Carpenter in Appalachian horror ‘Girl in Woods’

Yield Entertainment has released a new poster and stills for Jeremy Benson’s Girl in Woods. The latest thriller from the director of Shutter and Live Animals, the titular girl must battle nature and her own demons for her survival and sanity in a deserted part of the Appalachian Mountains. On his latest film, Benson said:

Girl in Woods was a passion project for us. The idea of doing an origin story to what would be a slasher film interested me, and being able to wrap that inside of a psychological thriller seemed to add a level of storytelling that, as a horror fan, I felt would be welcomed. This film is the birth of an urban legend; one of a mysterious savage that is believed to be killing people in the mountains. I want audiences to be disturbed by what is happening to Grace, and at the end understand

Alicia Silverstone To Lead Romantic Comedy Who Gets The Dog?

At first glance, Variety‘s exclusive scoop announcing Alicia Silverstone’s next film seemed to me to be signalling the actress’s return to the big screen. A quick scour over her IMDb page and it turns out I was mistaken; she’s not been away, but has instead been channeling her inner comedian into dodgy TV movies and straight-to-vid fodder. Could today’s news out of the American Film Market turn all of that around? With a title like Who Gets The Dog? it’s not looking good.

For the Epic Pictures and 2Ds co-venture, Silverstone will presumably take the lead role for a story which “follows a divorcing couple who are fighting over custody of their beloved dog.” What strikes me as odd is the choice of director the producers have deemed a perfect fit for this type of lightweight frivolity. Steven C. Miller, whose resume suggests he

Nothing Scary Lies Under the Bed: A Movie Review

*full disclosure: a DVD screener of this film was provided by XLrator Media. Director: Steven C. Miller. Writer: Eric Stolze. Cast: Jonny Weston, Gattlin Griffith, Peter Holden, Musetta Vander, and Kelcie Stranahan. This film fan has seen each of Steven C. Miller's films. From the zombie flick Automaton Transfusion (2006) to the witchy Scream of the Banshee (2011), Miller's horror films have been varied, especially in quality. His latest is a creature feature titled Under the Bed. This film was developed from Eric Stolze's (I Heart Shakey) script. And, this film is underdeveloped on several levels. Filmed over the course of twelve days, with a minuscule budget, Under the Bed offers very little in the form of a cohesive story and any sense of a creature mythology. This viewer was surprised at how easily the plot for this film could be summed up. Basically, two brothers fight off a creature,

Fright Exclusive Interview with Under The Bed Director Steven C. Miller!!

Director Steven C. Miller is one of the most prolific filmmakers working in (and out) of the horror genre today. To say the guy’s always working would be quite the understatement, and it’s extremely obvious that his talent and abilities grow with each film. No stranger to being a great guy to us at Icons of Fright (see last year’s interview here as well as Aaron’s review), he’s an all around good guy.

His most recent film (in terms of release) is the fun as hell Under The Bed, a movie that on the surface is somewhat of a creature feature, but has some very well written and executed themes in it, dealing with coming to terms with past decisions, fears, and putting your trust in others. Steven was nice enough to chat with us for a bit about the film, along with his goal for the future,

Borderlands Web Series in Development

Here's an interesting little tidbit that's begun floating around the Dread Central offices. Machinima, the fine folks who brought us Mortal Kombat: Legacy, are in the midst of cooking up a web series based on the popular Borderlands video game.

From what we hear, the series is based on the world presented in Borderlands 2. We also hear that one of the game's most notorious characters, Handsome Jack, has already been cast and will be played by Joel Hebner (pictured; Frankenstein Reborn, Automaton Transfusion).

Again, this is just something that's been brought to our attention, and we'll file it under rumor for now. If it does come to fruition, though, you read it here first!

Borderlands 2 is set five years after the events of Borderlands and tells the tale of four Vault Hunters: Roland, Lilith, Mordecai, and Brick, who are guided by a mysterious entity known as "The Guardian Angel" to the Vault,

Silent Night Helmer Preps Pitch Trailer for Zombified Terminus Project

Director Steven C. Miller who was responsible for helming such genre titles as horror thriller 'The Aggression Scale' and last December's seasonal slasher remake 'Silent Night' has been pitching his new zombie themed venture entitled 'Terminus'. Miller has revealed an intriguing new pitch trailer which will see the filmmaker return to his zombie directorial roots he first worked on in 2006's 'Automaton Transfusion'. He describes the teaser as 'a rip-o-matic trailer that I cut together ... This was designed to give you a taste of the story, along with how I see the mood and atmosphere,'. It features an array of other movies mixed together designed to give a quick cut visual of the style and mood that 'Terminus' will hopefully project. Steven C. Miller's newest horror project 'Under the Bed' is set for release in the Us from 30 July....

Steven C. Miller debuts bloody as hell Granny short/promo!!

If there’s a filmmaker that has an eye for visual style, it’s Steven C. Miller. Since his debut, 2008′s Automaton Transfusion, Miller has carved a resume of films that has gotten more impressive with time. With the exception of Scream Of The Banshee (I won’t speak of that here), I can definitely get on board with the stuff he does, including the recent Silent Night, and my personal favorite of his, The Aggression Scale. Well, Miller has recently released Granny, a new short film he did, and I haven’t laughed so hard in a good while. Great stuff!

“This is a short film/promo piece I shot for Jamie Kennedy’s company. They had a feature script that execs had a very hard time understanding the tone, so they brought me on board. The feature is basically a very dark horror/comedy in the vein of
