I saw that movie on the Munich Film Festival and i was impressed by the performance of the young leading actress Maria Kwiatkowsky (thereafter i noticed she won an award for her part). The story is not difficult. Since the 16 year old Amelie moved with their parents to Munich she has problems to adjust to her new school. Because of their new jobs her parents are too busy to remark how depressed she is until she attempts to kill herself. She survives, seemingly uninjured, but becomes even more manic-depressive. Maria plays her part as convincing as she wouldn't play a role. After En garde Dear Amelie is her second movie and her second exceptional role, I hope there will follow some follow some similarly good movies.
