Ahh, home design shows of the early 2000's - they were truly remarkable. Love It or Lose It is reminiscent of shows like Trading Spaces, but the cringe factor feels 10x worse.
Homeowners pick a space they want to be redecorated and there are three potential designers with very different (but equally gaudy) design ideas. But here's the catch: the homeowners don't know which designer will be redecorating their space and they must live at a hotel until the project is completed, at which point they return to be surprised by the results.
This show feels like a high school project with (a little bit of) money behind it. A show where you will witness awkward finger guns, uncomfortable laughter, terrible over-acting, and only the cringiest of jokes. Here are some memorable quotes from the series:
Homeowner, after seeing her new 60's-themed living room: "I've never seen circles like this before! ..other than maybe if you're kinda tipsy, seeing bubbles rolling up!"
In reference to the Kama Sutra-themed bedroom being designed for a (traditional/conservative) senior couple: Host: "What do you do with a swing in the bedroom??" Designer: "What *don't* you do with a swing in the bedroom?"
Designer, trying to sell his modern design plan: "Hot colours, COOL spaces. Can you feel the rhythm of my beat?"
Designer, trying to sell his country design plan: "It's just furniture for gosh sakes! You don't even need to take your boots off to go to bed ... Maybe we should all just lighten up. Moo with me, people! MOO! MOOOOOOOO!"
Obviously, this show is a masterpiece of 2000's television. 10/10 quality entertainment. Highly recommend it!
