Monday’s Devious Maids premiere picked up right where Season 2 left off, with Rosie and Spence’s nuptials being cut short by the sound of gunshots. So… who ended up in Ty’s line of fire?

Devious Maids probably isn’t an especially surprising show, if you know that it comes to you from the creator of Desperate Housewives, but even in comparison to that effort, it’s a certain kind of forward move. Desperate Housewives started off aiming for what we’ve actually achieved with Devious Maids, but it wasn’t quite there, and it didn’t take long for it to turn down a less interesting road.
The guilty pleasure genre is a tricky one, especially if you want people to help spread the word by admitting they watch your show, and there is a razor thin line separating worthwhile efforts from shows that are calling their own audiences stupid. Worse, virtually every aspect of creating the story you’re after is trying desperately to shove you over that line.

We’ve waited all summer long to find out who killed Flora - and last night’s Devious Maids Season 1 finale delivered the answer and much more.
Who would have guessed we’d also get an unexpected death along with a shocking ending? I absolutely loved that the writers allowed us to see exactly what went down on the night of Flora’s death. Thanks to the Powell’s, Eddie is free and Philippe is dead.
It was fun seeing the Powells unite; it just wouldn’t be the same if they were apart. Moreover, I was glad to see that Marisol finally came clean to Zoila and Carmen. The maids are always better together.
Elsewhere: Odessa was back and admitted to having feelings for Alejandro. That was a no-brainer. She became upset when Alejandro told her that he was going to marry Carmen. Rightfully so, Sam gave her an...

Devious Maids‘ first season is in the books, and the central question of who killed Flora Hernandez has been scrubbed away like a pesky cabernet stain. That’s good news for those of us who feared a Killing-esque arc that would’ve dragged out the mystery for an additional 13 episodes and counteracted the joy of hearing Susan Lucci drop zingers like, “If he wanted to help poor people, why didn’t he just go to Burbank?”

The first season of Lifetime's over-the-top soap "Devious Maids" came to a satisfying end Sunday (Sept. 22) when the Powells stopped their divorce proceedings to commit murder. Nothing like hate to rekindle love.
Oh, and speaking of murder (spoilers coming right up) ...
Philippe did it.
The ex-husband and current fiancé of Genevieve (Susan Lucci) killed Flora, which is where we all joined the story. Adrian and Evelyn Powell (Tom Irwin and Rebecca Wisocky) killed him.
Everyone except perpetually clueless Genevieve realized that Philippe is evil. Just as he was about to kill another maid, Marisol (Ana Ortiz), the Powells slipped him a drug and staged his suicide. They did not do this to protect Marisol, but rather for Adrian to exact his revenge on Philippe for killing "his maid."

Lifetime's "Devious Maids" has been building to a major reveal in its season finale, and to understand who killed Flora and why, Lifetime is re-airing the entire season Sunday (Sept. 22) in advance of the finale. The marathon starts at 10 a.m. Et.
The show will end as it began -- at a black-tie pool party at the Powells.
In the pilot, a maid, Flora (Paula Garces), was fatally stabbed. She staggered out to the party, and collapsed into the pool, her blood billowing about her.
A young cater waiter was immediately arrested, which made sense considering all the evidence pointed to him knifing her. But his mother, Marisol (Ana Ortiz), was so certain of her son's innocence that she gave up her job as a college professor and went undercover as a maid.
Marisol was relentless in her pursuit of the truth to free her son. She never really did...

Tonight’s penultimate episode of the Devious Maids Season 1 put us one step closer to what will surely be a finale to remember.
Hands down, this has become my favorite guilty pleasure of the summer. Week in and week out, it’s left me wanting more and seemingly questioning what really happened to Flora.
So, what went down on "Getting Out the Blood"? Let’s discuss…
For starters, I wasn’t surprised that Remi confronted Philippe and accused him of killing Flora. With Marisol continuing to dig deeper, Taylor also kept telling Michael about her particularly intriguing questions.
I’ll admit that it was hard for me to believe that Philippe could be evil because I constantly think Eric Camden every time I see him. However, this instantly changed when he ordered a hit on Marisol.
I had a feeling that the shooter would mistakenly shoot Taylor instead of Marisol.

Did Marc Cherry really just kill off Taylor?
The final scene of Sunday's (Sept. 15) "Devious Maids" has a pregnant Taylor (Brianna Brown) shot in front of her house. And she looks dead.
If that weren't surprising enough, it appears that Philippe (Stephen Collins) killed Flora, the maid.
Given that people have appeared dead and were not, and that the season finale, which creator Cherry promises will tie up all loose ends, airs in a week, we can't be certain of either.
What we do know is: Philippe is evil, Rosie is reunited with her son, Zoila uses her manipulative ways to protect her daughter and Evelyn finally has enough.
A hired killer, doing Philippe's bidding, was supposed to whack Marisol (Ana Ortiz). Marisol was fleeing the Stoppards' home after Michael (Brett Cullen) warned her that Philippe figured out who she really is: the mother of the young man falsely accused of killing Flora,...

Marisol's employers grow suspicious about her in Sunday's (Sept. 8) episode of "Devious Maids," and all we can say is -- it's about time.
Marisol (Ana Ortiz) has never bothered to hide her intelligence. The other maids are street smart, but she's book smart, not surprising considering she is a college professor posing as a maid to exonerate her son, Eddie, held for murdering Flora, a maid.
Taylor and Michael Stappord (Brianna Brown and Brett Cullen) independently realize that Marisol's behavior should be monitored. Marisol arranges to have Eddie's lawyer and Remi (Drew Van Acker), who had impregnated Flora, arrive at the Stappords' home at the same time.
Later, Taylor catches Marisol eavesdropping on Michael. This time Marisol's lying is clumsy, and her employers know she is up to something.
Recently, the series has spotlighted how the employers will often talk to their friends and lovers as if...

We’ve officially reached the final chapters of Devious Maids Season 1.
"Hanging the Drapes" kept things moving along as the maids continued to find themselves in particularly challenging and strange situations. Most importantly, we have a new person to add to the list of suspects who could have possibly killed Flora.
Before we get to that, let’s break down what else happened...
Adrian approached Rosie, wanting her assistance with entertaining one of his friends. Rosie wanted Spence to defend her honor; however, he proved that Peri was quite right in the fact that he is definitely kind of a pushover.
Eventually, Spence went over to Adrian’s to teach him a lesson but ended up slipping and giving himself a concussion. How embarrassing! Poor Rosie, though, since she walked in on Spence and Peri in the midst of an intimate moment.
Meanwhile, Carmen was in a bit of a...

As the first season of "Devious Maids" builds toward the end, a major clue about who was involved with Flora, the murdered maid, is dropped in Sunday's (Aug. 25) episode.
Alejandro (Matt Cedeno), the aloof, sexy pop star Carmen (Roselyn Sanchez) works for, reveals he is gay.
And Olivia, (Valerie Mahaffey), Michael's first wife, hangs herself from the tree in front of Michael and Taylor's (Brett Cullen, Brianna Brown) house during their dinner party. Not quite the second course they were expecting after announcing that Taylor is pregnant.
Another major story line has Remi Delatour (Drew Van Acker) returning from rehab. Despite Valentina's (Edy Ganem) worry that he will blame her for being sent there when his massive cocaine habit resurfaced, he appears as in love with her as she's always been with him.
Remi is one of the big surprises of the episode. Not just because he kept his...

Only four episodes of Devious Maids remain this season, as we continue to learn more about Flora and what exactly happened to her.
Much like the rest of Devious Maids Season 1, "Scrambling the Eggs" was inviting and kept me wanting more.
So, what went down?
Well, we flash-backed two months earlier thanks to the DVD that Rosie got a hold of and handed over to Marisol. Through a conversation between Michael and Flora, we learned that Michael was representing the man who raped Flora. However, Flora claimed that the father of the baby was not the same person.
Flora mentioned needing more money for her child and grandmother. Marisol was convinced that she could learn more by getting in contact with Flora’s grandmother. She definitely did and figured out that Flora cheated on Eddie with one of his friends.
Meanwhile, Evelyn found out about Rosie’s affair with Spence...

In the first episode since the Lifetime telenovela was renewed, "Devious Maids" creator Marc Cherry reveals more secrets about the murdered maid who launched the story.
It isn't yet obvious who killed Flora (Paula Garces), though a few minutes with her and one understands why she evokes homicidal thoughts. A flashback shows Michael (Brett Cullen) offering her hush money for sex she had with his client. Flora sneers at the amount.
She demands more, telling Michael that she was raped. Michael's initially incredulous because she had been a prostitute.
Flora explains that of course prostitutes can be raped, and adds that she is pregnant. She doesn't name the rapist or the father, but they were different men.
This episode is all about getting priorities straight, as these four plot points prove.
1) The always-dependable Judy Reyes as Zoila, maid and consigliere to Susan Lucci's Genevieve, remains the voice of reason.

As Devious Maids gains momentum, I find myself longing for the days to go by even faster just for Sunday evenings to arrive.
Last week, Rosie found out about Marisol’s secret. On "Missing the Baby," meanwhile, we picked up right away with Rosie already starting to work at the Powell’s house. While she was on a mission to find out more about what happened to Flora, she had to bring along Spence and Peri’s baby boy.
Evelyn took Tucker out for much longer than intended and pushed Rosie to quit on her. Eventually, Rosie changed her mind after Evelyn apologized and then saw the missing Flora DVD hidden in the safe.
I’m going to bet that Evelyn’s continued obsession with Tucker will be a major issue.
Meanwhile, Genevieve found her potential husband number-seven in a blind billionaire. The only problem was that she had to...

Aside from nasty gossip, safecracking and lying, this Sunday's (Aug. 11) episode of Lifetime's "Devious Maids" is really very sweet.
It's as if everyone needed to take a little break from the over-the-top situations. It's still a telenovela, though.
A maid walks in a couple having sex in the kitchen, a housekeeper is diagnosed with cancer and the seeds to an unorthodox marriage are planted.
The sex on the kitchen counter is between married couple Taylor and Michael (Brianna Brown, Brett Cullen).
Odessa (Melinda Page Hamilton) is under treatment for cancer. The unorthodox marriage in the making is Genevieve's (Susan Lucci). And yes, this falls into the what-else-is-new department.
Broke, because her business manager ran off with all of her money, Genevieve decided the only way to strike it rich again was to marry rich, a scenario that's always worked for her.
You've got to hand it to her. Other people...

Like always, Devious Maids left me wanting more with "Taking a Message."
Surprisingly, the installment started out with Marisol and Rosie on ends and confronting one another about the lies they’ve both been hiding. We quickly moved to two days before to find out all that led up to the altercation.
So, what all happened? Let’s break it down...
In last week’s review, I questioned how long Marisol would be able to keep her identity a secret. This week, her cover was blown by a former student. Marisol was quick to tell the girl that she was mistaken; however, Rosie was far from convinced.
Rosie did her research and found out that the girl at the grocery store was right: Marisol was actually Professor Suarez. When Rosie confronted Marisol, the torn mother came clean and told her everything from simply trying to help her son to trying...

Just in case you did not know the most dangerous place to be, "Devious Maids" Sunday (Aug. 4) reminds you: It's between a mother and her son. Should you find yourself in that precarious situation -- move fast.
No discounting that complicated relationship between mothers and daughters, but this episode deals with how mothers will do anything for their sons.
As the title suggests, plenty of truths come out. The biggest one is that Marisol's (Ana Ortiz) true identity is revealed. And that leads the category of mothers protecting their sons.
1) Marisol. As expected, she is highly educated. Marisol could never hide her intelligence behind a mop.
Her mission -- to gather evidence to exonerate her son being held in prison as the sole suspect for the murder of a maid -- is based solely on maternal protectiveness.
She is a professor of English, specializing in Oscar Wilde. Marisol and Rosie...

On last week's Devious Maids, we found out that Flora was more than just a maid to Adrian. This week, Marisol tried to find out even more about Flora's murder by working a fundraiser at the Powell house.
Unfortunately for Adrian, Marisol’s clearly not interested in his “extracurricular activities.” Fortunately for us, it’s fun watching her cleverly maneuver herself into the Powell household while piecing together a puzzle that leads to more questions and answers every Sunday.
When Marisol stumbled upon Flora’s pregnancy test, I had a feeling she’d immediately go to the girls to try to find out the details. Rosie revealed that Flora last told her that was pregnant, while Carmen and Zoila disclosed Flora’s plan was always to become impregnated by a rich man and milk him for all he’s worth.

It's not that the maids on "Devious Maids" are flawless, but most of the people around them, with one exception, are so much worse.
Genevieve (Susan Lucci, who gets a little more luminous each episode) is the lone exception. Sure, she's vain, ditzy, helpless and shallow, but she's incredibly sweet and all she wants is for everyone to be in love.
Her long-lost brother, Henri, (Richard Burgi) returns home after a long absence -- three husbands ago for Genevieve -- and tells her, lovingly, that she looks emaciated.
"You always say the sweetest things," she coos.
Henri is the rich man who broke Zoila's (Judy Reyes) heart. If Valentina (Edy Ganem) is their child, it wasn't confirmed. Some of this episode's best scenes show the dynamic between Genevieve and Valentina and how they have been part of each other's lives for decades.

Basically, Adrian and Flora had a very ‘Pretty Woman’ relationship — if Julia Roberts had ended up dead in a pool at the end of the movie.
The July 7 episode of Devious Maids revealed yet another clue to Flora’s killer, and naturally, all roads led back to Adrian Powell. Here’s how it all started: After bumping into Michael’s ex-wife at the grocery store, Marisol (Ana Ortiz) learned that Taylor used to be a “whore” — with and without the quotation marks.
But wait, it got even more bananas from there. It turns out Adrian was Taylor’s original pimp, and she wasn’t his only employee; Flora was also working for him — you know, before she was brutally raped and murdered at the Powells’ house on the first episode.
(Boy, that was some party, huh?)
The final scene of the episode revealed that Adrian doesn’t just set up his friends with hookers,...

Does any character on "Devious Maids" understand boundaries?
Of course not! And that is why it's so much fun.
If we wanted real life, we would turn off the TV. But it's a fair chance in real life no one is polishing our Rolls Royce, wearing couture gowns to dinner or accompanying us to assist in the ever-so-difficult chore of selecting vegetables at the market.
The third episode does not disappoint. Each character is only more of what he or she was in the pilot and second episode. So far, only Genevieve (Susan Lucci) is proving truly good, but she is ridiculous, which works so well on her.
From the beginning, we knew Marisol (Ana Ortiz) was different, not a real maid. She's too confident. That's not a dis to the other maids, as no one is exactly a shrinking violet, but there is a level of subservience in the...

In the pilot of Devious Maids, we got a glimpse of the employees from Beverly Hills. "Setting The Table," meanwhile, featured the ladies at what we’re already recognizing will be their finest: perfectly sexy, sassy and scheming.
Some factors I love so much already are the lively music and popping colors in every scene. Then, how could we forget about those vivacious maids themselves?!? It’s clear that this new series is going to be anything but boring.
So, what went down on this week’s episode?
Well, it was certainly fun watching Carmen take advantage of Alejandro and Odessa being out of the house. She totally proved that when the cat’s away, the mice sure do know how to play. We also quickly learned that Carmen just might be the worst maid ever, but that’s okay because she’s incredibly talented and driven. Carmen also showed...

Before we launch into what happened on "Devious Maids" this week, we need to honor the creepiness and sexiness.
The episode's creepiest moment: Adrian Powell saying, while starting to breathe heavy, "I love to watch women clean. I find it stimulating."
And its sexiest: Carmen naked inside the piano. (That is not a euphemism for anything.)
After all of the criticism about how this series reinforces stereotypes, the second episode proves a nuanced view of Latinas.
Lifetime's Sunday series features savvy women who work as maids. When the four women gather for a quick break, Marisol (Ana Ortiz) is reading the news about her son being held as the suspect in the murder that kicked off the series. The other women are relieved that someone has been arrested -- after all, Flora was their friend.
They already know Marisol is different, and Marisol is not about to let anyone in...

Until scientists come up with a cure for what Office Space so brilliantly dubbed as “A Case of the Mondays,” we may have to settle for a prophylactic dose of Susan Lucci dropping hilarious one-liners on Lifetime’s Devious Maids.
So what if her every line and action as Beverly Hills maven Genevieve Delatour has been done on at least a dozen prior TV shows or movies? Lucci somehow makes fresh — or at least so uproarious, you don’t notice a lack of freshness — moments like warning her sexy young maid that she’s called dibs on the gardener, topped...

Lifetime’s Devious Maids drew scorn from some cultural critics based on its promos alone, but with its Sunday-night premiere in the books, the question looms: Will the sudser clean up with audiences?
From Desperate Housewives producer Marc Cherry — and based on the telenovela Ellas Son La Alegría Del Hogar (They Are the Joy of Home) — the show focuses on the lives of a quintet of Latina domestic workers in Beverly Hills, and it doesn’t hurt that the ensemble is led by Ugly Betty‘s spectacular Ana Ortiz, an actress who can deftly shift gears from outrageous comedy to...

The Devious Maids are officially here and ready to liven up our summer. Clearly, it’s going to be a hot and delicious one.
It’s hard to believe that it’s only been roughly a year since we said goodbye to our Desperate Housewives. Much like Marc Cherry’s former pride and joy, the Devious Maids pilot kicked off with a dead person.
Cue the lively salsa background music and you’ll quickly realize that you’re no longer on Wisteria Lane, but actually in Beverly Hills.
From the ridiculously gorgeous Latin maids to the fairly serious and controversial contemporary issues, Devious Maids acts much like the standard primetime soap. With the lavish lifestyles of the bosses and the maids’ endless secrets and ambitions, the main issue will be if the writers will be able to keep it fresh week in and week out.
There’s undoubtedly lots of...

Washing the windows is no concern when scrubbing bloody floors and covering up illicit affairs are part of your professional duties. Such filthy tasks are all in a day's work for Beverly Hills cleaning ladies Carmen, Marisol, Valentina, Rosie and Zoila. It's enough to turn anyone a little...devious.
Inspired by the hit Mexican telenovela The Disorderly Maids of the Neighborhood, the new Lifetime sudser Devious Maids was adapted for American audiences by Desperate Housewives creator Marc Cherry and features the same wickedly over-the-top tone.
