Storyline

A bomb-sniffing beagle is fired from the mayor's office for a faux pas. That night a mad scientist dognaps him and injects him with an elixir. The dog escapes, but now has superpowers. He's adopted by a security guard - an ex-cop, who's a widower with a moody teen son, Jack. The boy discovers that the dog, named Shoeshine by dad, has super powers, but it's their little secret. While Underdog saves people in distress, the mad scientist and his underling continue their plot to catch him and take over the city. There's also a girl Jack likes who has a dog that Shoeshine takes a shine to. Will every dog have his day? Written by <jhailey@hotmail.com>

Goofs

The dog that they use for barking at the mailman is obviously not the one that is used in (most) of the rest of the movie. If you look closely at the patterning around the face, you'll see that on the barking dog's left cheek, the brown mark doesn't touch the lip, whereas the "main" dog's brown mark does. Also the barking dog has a softer outline. See more »

I loved it!
6 August 2007 | by (Florida, USA) – See all my reviews

I gave this movie a 10 because as of today, this movie has an extremely low rating which I (and my 7 year old daughter) believe it does not deserve. In other words, I'm voting for all those kids 10 and under who are too busy doing something more important than reviewing movies online.

This is, after all, a kids movie. You've got to see it for what it is. It's a cute movie with a cute dog and a half way decent plot (unless you're 7 then it's an awesome plot). If you're a parent you've probably have had to sit through some real painful movies, this is not one of them. My daughter (and many kids in the theater) were laughing out loud on many scenes. If you compare this movie to the original cartoons, well, people, let's be honest, the cartoons were pretty bad.

Hey, it's a beagle with a funny voice that flies...and kids love it.
