Seduced by dreams of making it big, song-writer Gretta (Keira Knightley) and her singer boyfriend Dave (Adam Levine) move to New York to pursue their passion for music. However, when Dave rejects her for the fame and fortune of a big solo contract, Gretta finds herself alone and far from home. Seeking comfort in the arms of dear friend Steve (James Corden), Gretta and Steve end up drinking spirits in his apartment before deciding to drunk-dial Dave. With Steve on keyboard and Gretta singing down the phone and playing guitar, her voicemail makes Dave realise that he made a huge mistake in letting her go.
To celebrate Begin Again being released on DVD and Blu-ray from 10th November, we’ve decided to explore other break-up revenge scenes found in movies.
Meatballs, Stripes, Ghostbusters and Dave are four of Ivan Reitman‘s films that have stood the test of time. When Reitman was on top of his game, the now 67-year-old filmmaker hit grand slams. I’m not using these sports metaphors because his latest film, Draft Day, includes the NFL Draft, but because, like athletes, some directors have hot streaks and cold streaks. For an array of reasons, slumps happen. Reitman’s lasted 18 years. After Dave he directed Junior, Father’s Day, Evolution, My Super Ex-Girlfriend, and Six Days, Seven Nights. In the intervening years he has helmed Junior, Father's Day, Six Days Seven Nights, Evolution, Cooking Lessons, My Super Ex-Girlfriend, No Strings Attached and the yet to be released Draft Day, whose trailers look typically awful. Let's be honest: Is...
